Thinking about Mr Celar, who may be on the turn (but in a good way), I was thinking about Rs players who were booed/heckled/downvoted at the start and who did/didn't come good with us?

Martyn Busby
Don Givens
Mike Fillery
Tony Sealy
Dean Coney
Mark Hateley
Les Ferdinand
Paul Furlong
Jose Bosingwa
Joey Barton

Any others come to mind? As I well know, and as Rene Girard has brilliantly analysed, the need to scapegoat certain humans is an inextricable part of (self-righteous) human being. As long as there are people, there'll be scapegoats.

Poll: What should the club do now (assuming no imminent change of owners)?

Yes I remember Furlong suffering chants of 'you're not fit to wear the shirt' for what felt like forever and then of course became a cult hero and remains part of the club to this day.

I think Celar has looked like a different player in the last few matches. Fans can boo and scream all they like but if you get behind a player like Celar, as we did eventually with Zamora, it could really turn around for him. There is a striker in there, he can drag players away in the box and he does have a surprising turn of pace. If the fans get behind him we could see a very different player and the asset we hoped he would be.

Celar has had unbelievable support from the fans. 2 in 22, with literally minimal effort and ability shown throughout, and the only notes of discontent were after his missed penalty. He now has scored in one game and his name is getting sung to the rafters.

I don't know what more you want from fans, really.

It's a bit like when Marti said that you don't often see managers having their names sung when you have a record like his this year.

I reiterate, nothing about QPR's woeful recent record is down to the fans. Nothing.

Kevin Brock was great for Oxford, got off to a bad start with us and used to receive a lot of grief.

Much later, Josh Scowen, who always gave 100%, got some absolute dog's abuse. I think some charmer even abused his dad online.

Mark Nygaard used to get some, even Dexter Blackstock at times.

Have been an R since the mid-70s and have never booed one of our own. Felt like it on more than a few ocassions, but it's a line I drew for myself a long time ago.

It was always Frank Clarke it seemed to me. Bought from Shrewsbury after our disastrous 1st season in the top flight.
Scored a shed load of goals for Shrewsbury, and I think he became the brunt of our frustration after that season.

David Bardsley.

He may be seen as a hero now but when he first joined he used to get a lot of abuse from our fans.

I give you....Stanley Bowles.

When we played Orient in the 80s, home match and Stan was playing for them. He got sent off and many/a lot of our fans booed him off the pitch.

We signed Frank Clarke in Feb 1968 & he was actually part of that 67/68 promotion winning team.

There you go... I stand corrected... I remember Marsh, Allen, Leach and Wilkes... but always thought Clarke was a little later

Wow - anyone else remember that, and how did he react? What was the red for?
