When Archer was on loan to Middlesbrough a couple of seasons ago he scored 11 goals in just 20 games, that's not a bad return.
He's predominantly a left sided player so that will help fill the void left by Fraser.
At 22 surely he can only get better.

You forgot to say that Archer best season 2023 in the championship for Middlesbrough 17 league appearances (3 as sub) 11 goals scored.
Another one to be written off before he has kicked a ball come on give him a chance.
Szmodics played 162 games for Peterborough scoring 38 goals but had a great season last season 27 in 44 games so maybe the better deal for Ipswich but let’s wait and see. | | | |

Spoke to my Villa mate about him.
He is more of a wide left midfielder / winger than a striker.
He didn't really fit into the Villa style of play
Never given much of a chance, so not bothered if he goes or not
Hence why he was loaned out of late
Could still come good
Price is about right at £15m but he had hoped for nearer £20m

The difference is that Sheff Utd's other forward was James McAtee, who played well enough to be brought into the Man City squad this year. Would have been nice if we could have got him too.

I was just wondering the same thing. Che was good at winning headers out of defence (even though they could bounce anywhere), and I don’t see that ability to relieve a bit of pressure being replaced currently. Unless Ross Stewart is going to be it, but who knows on that one. |  |

Don't disagree. He is putting a hell of a lot of faith in McCarthy and in our defence and in McCarthy not getting injured as our back up (for what it is) doesn't fill me with confidence either. Unless he is relying on us scoring more goals than we concede but that is highly unlikely.
Off to Newcastle tomorrow and I hate to say but I predict a fairly easy win for the home side. | | | |
