Was worth a punt on a raw talent. Looked a million miles away in the Europa League match though.

Could still come through, will get most of our money back if not. Nothing ventured...

I didn't think he did that bad in the EL to be honest.

I really wanted this lad to come on the pitch and blow us away, unfortunately in the game in Romania he looked like a parks player. Nerves may have got the better of him but he would be a huge risk in the Prem but his reserve / U21 form doesn't sing out either.
Another humiliation could put an end to a career in football all be it at a lower level.

It would be nice to loan him out to a Championship club but he hasn't played at any level to make a club from that division want him on loan.

Not sure what we're going to do with him.

But what's the alternative? At the age he is now he's got to make a break for it. I didn't think his performance in the Europa Cup was so bad and sometimes players can step up, it's also important that there's a ladder for our younger players into the first team and giving him a chance sends out a signal as was the case with Ben. At the very worse he gets exposure to play in a lower league.

The alternative would be to get him into a league 1 / 2 or even Welsh League squad to improve his reading a game and positional sense, because he can probably do everything else required of him if he has time and weaker opposition. Seriously he was so out of his comfort zone in Romania … as said the wrong exposure could destroy his confidence.
Unlike full back, where Ben excelled from the word go, playing striker is a very different and every touch has to be spot on - look at the stick Bony has to take and he was top scorer in the Eredivisie.

Fair enough - you have clearly followed him closely which I admit I haven't done. On the other hand if you want to get to the top in any sport you have to have that mental strength to cope with setbacks so maybe getting outside that comfort zone might not be a bad thing. As I say though I haven't really seen him play so you may well be right.

You can't be afraid to try a player out just because a lot of our supporters are f*cking idiots. And to be honest, your description of him as looking like a "parks player" is verging close to that.

At no point in that away game did he look any worse than most of what we've seen from Vasquez. It's borderline negligent on Laudrup's part that he has continued to have so many chances whilst Donnelly has had none, just as it was when Shechter got continually selected last season.

Mikey just doesn't like forwards he didn't expressly want (or his mate doesn't represent).

I mentioned league of Wales only because it is senior football and if playing locally he could remain in touch with the Swans and be easily monitored - I see nothing wrong with this for a month or two.
I'm not writing this because i don't like him or don't think he will make the grade but because I really believe he needs senior game experience to improve and that the standard we play would expose him to too much pressure. The Pleoisti game could have been the occasion getting to him because I doubt that our players will ever experience a crowd like that again.

Wonder if Newport County want him on loan, L2 would be about right... LOW would be a waste of time, may as well leave him rot in the u21s, it's just a hoofing slog of a league he'd learn nothing...

the boy has got talent but I do agree with Winston, the fact that Schechter and Vasquez have got chance after chance when they're clearly no better is wrong, with a few games and some confidence Donnelly may come good, we haven't seen anywhere near enough of him to say he'd do any worse, I actually don't think it's possible to do any worse anyway...

Whether it is accurate or not is irrelevant the one thing that he isn't up to is the Premier League at this point in time. He needs loaning out to Championship/League One for a season or two and get exposure to regular football to build his game.

He has a talent but throwing him in at the deep end will not develop it to its full potential

No doubt people would have said the same about Ben Davies eighteen months ago. The only way to find out is to give him a chance. The fact that he hasn't had a chance whilst other players who have and been found wanting keep getting picked does not reflect well.

I'm sure people had but Ben was clearly a better player - anyone who had seen him at that point would say the same thing.

Rory is not up to the Premier LEague and using the fact that we play others who are isn't really a reason for throwing him in at the deep end.

He needs to be loaned out.

Don't think so - Ben hit the ground running and was so good the player brought into cover full back was hardly used.

Give him a chance against Utd (they'll be playing a second string most likely too), we know Vasquez isn't up to it already, so let's see how Rory gets on. Can't wrap him in cotton wool forever, either going to have a chance of making it for us at our level, or if not, sorry, move him on. Harsh I know but sentiment isn't going to make us a better team, better players will make us a better team.

Oh,..Dave, what's occuring?

Where would you place Vasquez in that equation then? he came without a reputation as a goalscorer where Rory was prolific does it matter at what level he scored them? A goalscorer is a goalscorer, I feel reasonably sure that if he got the chances to score that Vasquez had he'd have scored, as to whether he'd have got in those positions is another thing though I suppose.
