We may need to change our formation, tactics and shape when playing away.

Need to block the midfield when away especially for the first 65/70 minutes.

For me that means Morgans legs and maybe Chair on the bench.

BTW - I wasn't there today or watched the game so I am saying this on the games beforehand.

Saw today's game on a stream and thought we were poor in a poor game. However, the games against Millwall and Coventry could have gone either way .

Fair point, Pedro.
Cov was 50/50, definitely.
Missed Millwall.

Chair in front of a defensive two might make more sense at home - with Morgan in there away from home and Chair to the left.

But Koki has been good there lately and one of the few brighter points today.

So many below par performances I find it difficult to draw definite conclusions but I'm sure others will feel well equipped to.

A culmination of player failings on the day, Managerial failings on the day, getting beaten by a better team on the day.

As a fan sometimes you have to say, we were shite today and maybe even give a bit of respect to the oppositions players and Manager.

My Father had a profound influence on me, he was a lunatic.

If you can't pass and keep the ball, then you are asking to get beaten.

I'm not sure why people appear surprised by this performance or result. We are not a good footballing team, and we do not dominate teams home or away. See the stats versus Derby last week.

We just have to see this season out, but there is yet another big summer rebuild coming, which will mean yet another season of mediocrity.
This doesn't bother me. We'll be pushing for promotion in 2 years, but this is our crappy level for the next 12 months.

Not sure we have had any real away 'form'. We've by and large parked the bus and have picked up points from goals on the break. That said, we had the opportunity to dominate today but the tecnhincal quality was poor and let's face it, it was never going to be good enough with 2 out and out defensive centre mids and Ashby and Lloyd brought on to try to salvage something out of the game.

We are performing like a middle of the table team.

Doing extremely well at home but fragile.away from.home

But tbh we.could.have got something away in out last few games away and we keep winning at home

From one win in sixteen, we have been decent

Realistically there was no hope of play offs after such a poor start and the rest of the season allows us a long time to work out what's working and what's not.

I feel this game we blew.a.gasket on the second goal. Worldie for.the first.

If Lloyd had more composure, we could have sneaked an away draw but sometimes games go against you.

I think in hindsight a.Field Colback and Varane/ Morgan starting line up with Koki and Chair either side would have been OK.

And don't forget.we.had Dembele basically not really involved as yet with Kolli, Celar and Kelman in reserve for next season perhaps.

It's a ground where the home fans make a difference

Is Cook starting to look vulnerable.

What's happened JCS - is he injured again.

Even if we play Edwards, think Morrison has to come in again next game

I.personally don't want us in the play offs this season. We are too soon in our development to be in the premier league.

For the rest.of the season, we can find our way and really go for it next season.

If miracle of miracles Eze gets us a bit of cash to spend.
Let's go next season all guns blazing

C'mon you Rr's !!

Forget next season. The whole back line today is currently leaving come May so we have to replace them plus JCS.

That is 6 new defenders to bring in and get playing together.

Not won away against anyone above 20th. Only 2 home wins against anyone in the top ten.

Probably pushed ourselves to the highest position possible with this squad, it’s a reasonable achievement to be as much as 14 points above the bottom three.

Don’t panic Cptn Mainwaring, we’ve got 5 number 10s and some injured Chelsea guy that can play anywhere !

Don’t know what the problem is.

The latest batch of recruitment really confused me.

I would have expected to fill specific roles with the relevant skills, knowing that our back line needs a complete renewal.

We’ve known about this for a long time now.

Yeah, I'm inclined to agree. Still a lot of rebuilding to do if we're ever going to get of this division. We have a soft underbelly and it showed against both Millwall and Pompey.

I'm really disappointed tonight because this year was an opportunity to get in the play-offs. It is wide open but I think our ship has sailed now and we need to be planning for next season. Worrying that our best player, head and shoulders above the rest, is a loanee.

Our lack of control in midfield is very disappointing. I am not sure why Morgan has been dropped from the side. Since he’s been dropped due form has tailed off. I like Field but I feel if we are to progress next season then we need better players in centre mid. We were really poor today. Chair can’t be a guarantee starter every game. I think he’s a luxury when we play away.

I'm not sure why you think (i) we need a complete summer rebuild, (ii) even if we do, that this implies more 'mediocrity' next season and (iii) why we're going to be challenging for promotion after that. I disgree with you on (i), (ii) does not necessarily follow and (iii) is a matter of speculation.

However, I'd say we are probaby at least four to five quality players away from credible playoff-contenderhood, especially in sub-standard/missing midfield and up top, and even then (and I guess I'm in a minority on this forum), I'm equivocal as to whether Marti is the man to take us to the 'next level'. Hopefully, we can/will jettison Madsen, Ashby, and Varane, and for my money probably Frey and Celar (though I still want to see what, if anything, he produces if/when he comes back from injury, first), which will free up some finance and wages.

I trust Nourry and the board, working closely with the coaching team, to get those decisions right, or mostly right - not least because we have little choice in the matter, but it's likely to be another crucial close season for our recruitment.

How has Varane had his name snuck into a list with Madsen and Ashby?

Re Chair, and though I certainly don't treat him as immune to criticism, if you think our most
hard-working and creative player is a 'luxury' anywhere, I say 'give me more luxury'. It's self-evident our issues in midfield are down to the lack of forward thinking/ability of the likes of Field and Varane, surely, as well as the lack of goalscorer(s).

I rather think people are missing the point about our away form. Nobody is saying it has ever been great.

What I am trying to get across is that in the previous two seasons we have won more away than at home and picked up more away points in those two seasons than at Loftus Road. Forget the history of QPR away, the OP I believe is saying we have not been as good away this season in contrast to the past two seasons.

Our home form was so bad it perhaps wasn't difficult to be better away and this continued in the early months of this season. Now we are vastly improved at home, away points have dried up where we are struggling even to draw on our travels. It seems Marti has cured our home ills to the detriment of the away form.

The last two seasons saw us win away to the two eventual champions but naturally we lost to both at home, Burnley and Leicester. We looked more assured away last season than we do now.

It doesn't improve my mood seeing Brentford and Palace have both won four away games on the bounce in the Premier league while we have lost three in a row on the road in the Championship. How big is that gap getting?
