English booing taking the knee. 21:07 - Jun 2 with 17577 viewstrampie

English people booing the gesture to support black people and racial equality tonight at M'boro, sounded like the vast majority of the English supporters as well.

Should teams refuse to play England, or should England be banned from the Euros ?

Lewin pushes Romanian player then goes down and the ref awards England yet another penalty kick.

If you are paying to watch a football game, and you disagree with taking the knee, you have every right to boo.

When the fans are allowed back into the Liberty, I'll certainly boo if the players are still taking the knee.

I don’t. I think it has served it’s purpose. Needs to be action on and off the pitch to stamp out racism. UEFA are a disgrace in their inertia.

Indeed , they have a mutual respect campaign going on at the moment, respect lol. Deal with multi millionaires screaming abuse at the match officials then !!!

That should have been a penalty to Romania there in the last minute, English player jumped into Romanian player in the box, nothing given by the ref.

After the shenanigans of 66 authorities are dubious about giving England tournaments, signs aren't good with this one being a virtual home tournament for England, I wonder if this refs wife received an expensive handbag....hmm

I don't recall football supporters booing any of the "Kick it Out" pre-match gestures in my lifetime.

That, to me, suggests that football supporters are happy to respect and promote anti-racism initiatives. They just don't support the action of taking the knee, for whatever reason.

No, showing your disapproval of something isn't political.

Are you saying that taking the knee is political ?

If people think it’s associated to BLM/ANTIFA/Marxism then yes.

If just a generic anti racism gesture as the players are telling us then why boo?

Do you think the England fans were booing today because they think Harry Kane or Jordan Sancho are kneeling for Marxism?

As I said earlier I think the message has lost all power. No need to boo though.

That's exactly where I've arrived at. Definitely lost its impetus and the association initially with BLM certainly didn't help people's perceptions. BLM is political , footballers taking the knee certainly isn't.

Of course it's connected to BLM, or is it coincidental that it started after George Floyd died under the knee of a police officer.

No, I don't think that the English fans were booing at Kane, Jordan or Sancho in particular, I think they were just showing their disapproval of them making a political gesture, and in my opinion they have every right to boo, just as those that approve can cheer, or do you think only cheering should be allowed at football games?

This myth that a single organisation exists called BLM is baffling. It was a twitter hashtag. It's not trademarked. A bunch of groups have used it to push a range of agendas. Some more radical/left-wing than others, some larger than others. The behaviour of some of these groups has been awful BUT taking the knee was not started by any of these groups. There is no evidence of this whatsoever.

Gareth Southgate has been crystal clear about why the players are doing it, are they all lying?

I’ll say it again, I think taking the knee is no futile, however anything that unites Nigel Farage, Lawrence Fox, Darren Grimes and Toby Young I’m predisposed to baulk against.

I also will be booing as loud enough as I can ( with my say No to Racism shirt on )
If there's one place we should never have seen any knee of fist gestures it's in football.
Around 3% of the UK is Black, but it appears like about 30 - 40% of the EPL footballers are
Black, and subsequently the vast majority are multi millionaires.
You do get the odd idiot who shouts the 'N' word, or some racist keyboard warriors, who probably add up to a few dozen in total. That is never going to disappear from 'Bending the Knee' It's perpetuating the problem.

Is that the definitive BLM site?

As I’ve said, it’s one of countless websites using the acronym along with thousands of other groups across the globe.

Again, players have been clear about why they’re doing it - are they lying?

Exactly what shenanigans are you talking about?

I ask because as far as I know the accusations of cheating weren't aimed solely at England but at the European authorities, several South American teams accused them of a conspiracy against South American teams.

https://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2016/jul/24/1966-world-cup-final-consp

In which case, if the authorities cheated in a conspiracy, why would they not give England a tournament?
South American news media even started making accusations 4 months before a ball was kicked.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

Many think it was an English conspiracy in conjunction with their German cousins, nothing to do with World or European football authorities.

It's amazing, the dishonesty on this thread.

The players bending the knee is not a display of support for the political movement 'Black Lives Matter'?
Desperate stuff by people who know that they have lost the argument but are too arrogant to admit that they got something badly wrong.

The Left always believe they are intellectually superior and the people who don't agree with them are poor, ignorant, idiots who need saving...it is in the Left's DNA.
That is why they think they can get away with these blatant lies. As if we can't all remember the events of a year ago.

Dwight got it right. No booing for anti-racism campaigns in my lifetime. People are booing BLM and the bullying arrogance of the Left. They are booing the lies regarding racism (see Jack 59's post). They are booing the pompous fools who think they can get away with labeling everybody they disagree with as racists with no consequences. They are booing to show people like Kilkenny where they can stick their totalitarianism....YOU (and people like you) are the problem Kilkenny, you are just too dense to see it.

You can choose not to listen to the message or see the signs if you like, you can choose to carry on with this behaviour if you like, but there will be consequences. People have had enough of this bull.
We will boo, you will not silence us.

"It's what people know about themselves inside that makes them afraid" - "In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act" - "The further a society drifts from truth the more it will hate those who speak it"
