Saints Have Two Injury Doubts For Manchester City Game
Friday, 11th May 2018 17:00

Mark Hughes has confirmed that he has only two injury doubts ahead of the visit of Premier League Champions Manchester City on Sunday.

Saints fans are sweating on the game against Manchester City and praying their won't be a freak set of results on Sunday, manager Mark Hughes though is sweating only on the fitness of two of his squad.

Mario Lemina missed the game at Swansea due to a hamstring injury and Jan Bednarek was forced off with a head injury sustained in a clash with his won keeper on Tuesday and both will be assessed ahead of the game.

Hughes said

"Mario we're still hopeful of getting back," Hughes explained. "But it's touch and go. It was a hamstring issue so you're never quite sure how quickly those resolve themselves. We'll have to wait on that one.

"Jan might miss out. Clearly, he had a bang to his head. He'll need checking nearer the time. Apart from that we'll have a clean bill of health."

Bednarek has an additional reason for wanting to play and end the season on a high, he has been included in the provisional Poland squad for this summers World Cup, after coming into the Saints team because of injury he has put in a series of solid displays for the side and would obviously love to continue that run on Sunday.

I know this is not relevant but too late for the previous articles. Just wanted to say what a finish to the season and although I was not keen on Sparky he has done just what was needed - got a reasonable squad to play as a team. Based on our recent performances I would be happy if he was appointed for next year. Me and Pete are going to have a couple of pints tomorrow to celebrate subject of course to nothing unexpected happening like us losing 5-0 and Swansea winning 5-0

Can’t play Bednarek after that head injury, I think. Has played well, though.

Oh, yeah, and I am happy with our current boss. At least we tried after the Newcastle debacle.

What about Steven Davis? Have we seen the last of him. I love him but he is not very close to being in my starting 11.....
I hope we keep him as an experienced squad player.

If we survive and its quite a big if as we are more than capable of losing heavily to citeh this team needs an overhaul and I hope the Gao family see through the current board and replace the ageing Les reed and ralph ratner Krueger asap only then can we see what ambition the Chinese have because while these people are around we are only a farm for whoever has the money to buy our players, we've had a joke of a season glossed over by 4 points against very weak opposition I hope hughes makes good of whats available to him and get us over the line coyr
