Barton - whether you like him or not.... 09:21 - Oct 27 with 3151 viewsYorkRanger

...you have to say how many players would have gone down like they had been shot, when hit on the head by so bottle of coke. Credit to him, no dramas or overreaction, picked the offending bottle up and handed it to the officials.

Ashley Young would've picked it up , skulled the dregs ,crushed it with one hand and screamed defiance at the Burnley hordes..

I don't care what he was like before, I think he's shown some real fire and commitment this season so far - I know it could all change.

And, I think his reputation is often what gets him booked, not the things he does. Don't see how his booking was even a foul yesterday and the penalty was just a bad joke. Ref was awful and knew he'd get no criticism for being harsh on JB.

well little was said of the incident at millwall where something hit barton and now at burnley..attention is on flares on the pitch and it's fans behaviour again in the spotlight....odd how if this happens atqpr, we get all sorts of actions, fines and suspended actions!
at soke...nothing...millwall..ignored

didn't even warrant a mention on the football league show, you can bet it would be front page news if he had thrown it back, I would hope Burnley get fined over the inciden and the moron gets nicked, not the clubs fault but the lack of attention to it in the media is staggering.

Got to laugh how he got into the ground with the lid on, bottle lids are treated like anthrax at most grounds ad taken off you

A few years ago we got a big fine coz a fan threw an apple onto the field. It didn't even hit anyone. I certainly hope that the FA take the same sort of action. I have no ill-will towards Burnley -- they are not a team I dislike. But it was well out of order when we got that fine. We were almost bankrupt at the time and that fine was very hard on us. This was much worse. No action was taken for the projectile that hit Barton a couple of weeks back. I'd be really irritated if nothing happened again this time.

Agree he took it like a man & has been great this season, although still needs to calm his ego. Is he banned for Wigan after the booking?

I would never ask for a fan to be banned for getting carried away. We all do it at football matches. But enough is enough.

The next week the coke bottle thing. Great safety in the Champ. If it was the other way round and I reacted, I'd be banned. Great that.

The 3 eyed also have no concept of keeping quiet and getting away with it. So punched in the arm 1 week at Millwall during the game by a fan

Shouldn't be too difficult for the plod to arrest him, charge him and see him banned from Turf Moor. If it was one of ours doing it to any opposition player, I'd like to think we'd pick him out for the police.
No need for such behaviour.

I always thought that having the lids removed from plastic bottles at matches was a little OTT and annoying but this just goes so show there is and will always be at least one stupid c*nt.

Ahh the old two wrongs argument. Sorry we have a numpty fan, he/she should be identified and banned. Fair play to Joey he did not make a big deal out of it. It got plenty of attention in the Mail although little mention on the Football League show.

You looked a good side yesterday, as have Ipswich and Derby recently. I expect Leicester and Forest to be challenging as well. Brighton who beat us looked strong but they have been on a terrible run since.

We have a thin squad so anything can happen yet, it is still early days and most teams in the top half have much more depth of cover so still all to play for in this most interesting of leagues. We are playing as a team and working harder than I have ever seen from the Clarets.

Can't understand why Kranjcar was taken off and Austin, who got a decent reception from the Turf Moor crowd looked isolated and needs better service and support.

I still think that you will be in one of the automatic promotion spots because you have a quality squad and I expect HR to produce a quality team. Expect the usual Championship twists and turns and enjoy it.

Can't help but fear we're heading for a Barton blow out here. He's at his most volatile when he feels he's been wronged and in the last few games he's been kicked from pillar to post with referees quite happy for it to go on, only to then suddenly book him the second he commits a foul. There was a lot of off the ball stuff on him at Millwall this week with no comeback. Now this incident with no comeback. Hope he continues to hold his temper, which he deserves credit for doing so far.

Be prepared for the 376 'I told you so' threads the second he gets sent off (rightly or wrongly). The number of crude challenges that have gone unpunished on him this season has been incredible.

When Denis fcking Wise was playing for Millfckingwall at LR he got a few coins from the Ellersie Road when he went to take a throw in, fair play to the little shit he quietly picked the coins up and threw them over the touchline.
He's still a shit though.
