We should be very proud of what this guy has done and how he elevates the image of the UK on the world stage.

Typical Prosser. British person becomes world class athlete and Prosser decries him for "not being British" and not paying enough tax. Tragic.

Bloody hell you'd swear he was rooming with Lewis Hamilton in Switzerland. Americans do pay tax as well. If they do pay less they make up for it by paying their own medical bills.

And as for his nationality, you could be born while your parents are holidaying in Mexico, doesn't make you Mexican, you are what your environment has made you, your culture, peer groups, media influence on your psyche, hence we have so many losers in this country, coz when someone wins we can't wait to knock them down. That's what the media does and that's what we're doing here.

Mo Farrah is undoubtedly the best British athlete ever and should be celebrated as such.

The only thing both he and Andy Murray have highlighted is the lack of sporting infrastructure in this country that caused them both to go abroad to become winners

Poll: Some scummer on the anus board reckons 80% of us want them to go down. so... do

You've got a point about the infrastructure, although that's dependent upon the sport. The infrastructure we've got for rowing and cycling is as good as if not better than anyone else.

Farah, whilst not a "Briton", is most definitely "British". If someone that good is proud to be competing under our flag then frankly I don't understand why anyone would have a problem with it.

Whilst he is a great British athlete, I would question the best British athlete ever. How do we measure what is the best, is it by medals, is it by personal achievements? Is it by World records?
This nation has "produced" many great athletes and it would be interesting to see who people think is the greatest. Eric Liddell is one to talk of, maybe not the greatest but he made the decision not to run the 100 metres as the final was on a Sunday but then won the 400 metres.

It's always a good debate.

For me Daley Thompson is still #1. Took on the best the world had to offer twice and beat them all ends up. Without a doubt the greatest all round athlete we've ever produced IMO.

Did Thompson win the one gold or did he repeat it? I'm asking because I don't know, not being sarcastic. Just my opinion. I just think for winning double Olympic and world golds in the five and ten, against the Kenyan and Ethiopian athletes who themselves are no mugs puts him in that position. I do take your point tho.

Thompson won gold in 1980 and 1984. Both of those Olympics were weakened by boycotts though.

Thompson had a much greater influence in my life. Not for his athletics, but for his arcade game. It was his Daley Thompson's Decathlon game that built up my wrist muscles/tendons and wrist speed of motion through repetitive bashing away on a joystick, working through the pain barrier and learning how to use my left hand to waggle the stick , which later in life has allowed sustained bashing of a joystick of an ambidextrous nature.

Farah hasn't developed me physically in any way, so Thompson all the way.

You can only beat what is in front of you. Daley did, also, break the World record four times so was clearly, at the time, the best all round athlete in the world Seb coe won two Olympic golds and broke world records 8 times. It is difficult to judge who is the best because there are many parameters to consider.

Yeah, but he beat the best of the Soviet Bloc in 1980, and the best the West had to offer in 1984, plus ze Germans both times.

He was unbeaten in top level Decathlon competition for something stupid like six straight years. Boycotts or not, that's about as good as it gets.

.... and the World Champs didn't start until 1983 and even then they only came around every four years ..... so Thompson was limited by the amount of global titles he could win to stack up against Farah.
