Superb again today and fully deserved his goal, unlucky earlier in the game, decent save from their keeper early in the first half. Offers so much for us going forward, him and Smyth are also working well together on the right.

You're wrong.

It's being so happy that keeps me going.

Added to his surprising transformation into a decent full back.

It's the headers won at set pieces , both in defence and attack that make a difference.

Hardly ever loses a duelnwherever it is on the pitch.

Before Cifuentes transformed the guy and took a punt st Jimmy on the right, he was meekly slipping away and probably looking at moving on.

He always comes across as such a decent guy as well and he has developed hero status with his last few performances given his awful family circumstances he has had to face. His old man is beaming up there, no doubt.

Quality player, total commitment, would love to see him stay in the side for the next 3 or 4 years, and I've stopped thinking we really need an actual right back. Jimmy is that now for us - some of the things you loose with his style you gain in other ways big time - the winner today I thought was an example.

But Macca - no. Different position, playing at a lower level, and too early to give him that mantle.

I should clarify. Heart, decency, commitment, teamwork, courage. Never mind when he does a stepover.

He's not the new Alan McDonald by a long shot but...he is the closest we have to him in the current team by far.

Would put him on a par with Clint Hill and Shaun Derry though.

I can understand the comparison from the original poster's POV, however Alan McDonald was a legend at this club an absolute beast of a legend and my fourth favourite QPR player of all time.
Lets be honest Jimmy Dunne Is a bit special and If you had to pick your first three starters on the team sheet Jimmy Dunne would be one of the three.
I've got a huge amount of time for JD but he's got a way to go yet before he can sit along side Alan McDonald.

My Father had a profound influence on me, he was a lunatic.

So because Dunne has got a couple of goals - we now compare him to a qpr legend???

I like him as much as the next man and he’s passionate about qpr but we accept him with some limitations

He will hopefully cement his place as a well respected qpr player but mr McDonald he is not yet - sorry and I know we have all had a drink!

This. He really is Mr QPR. We would be so stupid to let him go. Must get a longer term contract sorted out for him asap. He really loves this club and shows incredible commitment, even through personal tragedy. So good when he goes forward as well.

Never knowingly right.

Yesterday second half seemed to be the first time Nardi went all in on Begovic’s diagonal punt to Jimmy on the touchline after seeing Kolli get dispossessed so often back to goal. Not pretty but it gets us the ball in the opposition half more often than not.

Jimmy Dunne on 11:37 - Dec 22 with 1369 viewsblacky2013

Agree that he is probably the closest in the squad to Macca but look at the quality of the opposition they both faced. Remember some epic battles Macca had with Mark Hughes and I think Mark Hughes said that Macca was the hardest player he ever played against. So, while Jimmy Dunne is good, he is not the same level as the great man.

Heart, guts ,fight .Team looks to him for leadership.

Needs to get us into the premiership to merit comparison with MacDonald though

Should be given captain share with Field now though

He is doing very well indeed and worthy of all the praise he gets.......best right back in the club & deserves the positivity he gets despite several posters wanting him 'out' earlier in the season.

As for comparison to Macca, he has a long way to go there.

Jimmy Dunne on 15:41 - Dec 22 with 953 viewsCiderwithRsie

Macca played for years and years at the top level of football in this country, in a QPR side that rarely looked uncomfortable at that level, and was one of the first names on the team sheet for a whole range of managers, including some very respected names.

He was also a regular for a Northern Ireland side who were getting into World Cups and looking decent there - his Northern Ireland were streets ahead of, say, Scotland today due tot he sad decline of British football outside of England.

And he did all that from the age of 19.

So I get the people saying that Dunne has a long way to go, but I feel that's missing the point. For the level the club is at right now, Dunne is doing the job Macca did, both in terms of spirit, never say die defending, and a very useful contribution of goals. Whether he'll stick with the club for as long is another matter.

Silly comparison with Alan Mac by the OP on so many levels. Dunne is an average CB but by gum he's a great RB. It'll be interesting to know whether Jimmy now sees himself as a RB or still harbours a desire to play in the middle.
