Lighten up the load No.2 - Yuka app
at 20:40 10 Mar 2024

If you or your partner/ mum/ Dad etc. haven't already found this app, I would issue a word of warning. Mrs Hants is now using it to check out all the tasty, unhealthy foods I used to enjoy and only getting those recommended that are free of sugar, calories, salt, fats etc. ...and sometimes, taste?

On the other hand, if that's important, and I guess it should be and is for many, it's a simple app that scans barcodes and provides all the information you need to buy healthy products.

I thought he had a very good game. One if the few to look confident and calm in the first half, then some brilliant work in the second half. Great assist for Smyth and super goal.MOTM?

The Times today - From the archives

'A look back at a memorable moment in sporting history' Nice feature about EFL Cup and 1967. One quote I liked was, "There have been many such fine efforts at Wembley over the years - but this stroke by Marsh will live with the best" The Times opined, "There was a lazy arrogant grace about it all that had the quality of a genius"

Picture of 'emotional Marsh' aged 21

Right, 56 years on, must get ready for latest journey to West London!

A new phrase for the LFW lexicon of pretentious words used by discredited managers and which will associated with them forever. Meticulous planning, was the previous favourite.

"Emma Hayes will one day manage in men’s football — so why not now? ''
at 17:49 27 May 2022

"Game’s blind spot to talented female coaches is self-defeating" - so says Matt Dickinson, QPR ST holder and Senior Sports Writer in The Times yesterday and he suggests that Emma Hayes should be on the QPR shortlist for our new manager.

Interesting article - I'll cut and paste if anyone wants tp read further

So sad to read her obituary today. It reminded me of my early years supporting the Rs as she was in 'Please do not adjust your set' a fantastic 'children's' programme from late 1960s - forerunner to Monty Python - included David Jason as Captain Fantastic and even had Bonzo Dog Doo Dah band in support. She also featured in a memorable BBC film in 1983 'Another time, another place' - set in Scotland 1942 with Italian prisoners of war - reminded me of the Italian Chapel in Orkney.

Thought I should share this letter in The Times today:

IT’S POSH WE ARE
Sir, Giles Coren asks for the names of good, but not too fancy, restaurants in Peterborough (Notebook, Feb 1). May I suggest the excellent Brewery Tap near the station, the home of Oakham Ales, which serves tasty Thai food. Giles and his son can then celebrate QPR’s win over the mighty Posh in convivial surroundings. In the unlikely event of his team losing he can drown his sorrows with excellent Peterborough beer brewed on the premises. A win-win situation.
