Why? Why can't people see it's the owners who need removing? 21:25 - Oct 23 with 3127 views | Southamptonfan | Threads titled as astonishing and why is he still here? Do people seriously think that the owners who appointed Jones and Selles, who bought a load of Man City reserves and Villa reserve players for PL failure, all to do it on the cheap, are going to spend tens of millions sacking a manager and then replacing him with a better manager (and if he's better he would want a lot more than RM wanted?). This is the same ownership team that could have appointed Dyche after Ralph, they could have appointed some decent managers instead of Jones and Selles. When is the penny going to drop, that the owners are the problem here? If RM goes, these owners will koto attract a top manager to save us. The team isn't good enough for a start and a top manager would want money to spend on top.players. never going to happen under these owners.

Exactly. It's all about money. But that's all SR are about. They aren't ambitious. They don't care about the entertainment on the pitch for the fans. Demand the sacking of RM if we like, but we would still be stuck with the same unambitious owners, who.would just appoint the next cheapest possible manager. Round and round in circles. I've said this before, as long as SR have control it's not about winning football matches, it's all about making money. Hence their insistence on buying young players in an attempt to sell them on for a profit. But this only works if you improve those players by giving them game time in the Premier Lge. Very short sighted policy in football because unless you win enough games in any lge you get relegated into a lower lge. We're not a cash rich club & cannot compete with the big 6 clubs financially. But nor are Fulham + Brighton + Brentford + Bournemouth but they all manage to survive in top lge. Why - Because they purchase the right players at the right price. Then put a decent Manager / Coach in place to prepare the players & devise a system of playing that suits the players. Unlike RM who insists on asking players to stick to his ridiculous suicidal style of play. All players at any level need to be comfortable in the position they play & understand their role in the team. We have to many square pegs in round holes that includes the Owners & the Manager.

It was in the early days before they'd had a chance to influence anything. We were a mid-table Premier League team back then. Of course, once they got to work, things deteriorated badly. They took over an established top flight team on a good run in January, 2022. It's hard to believe now that we were getting results like this: 26 December 2021 West Ham United 2–3 Southampton 28 December 2021 Southampton 1–1 Tottenham Hotspur 11 January 2022 Southampton 4–1 Brentford 15 January 2022 Wolverhampton Wanderers 3–1 Southampton 22 January 2022 Southampton 1–1 Manchester City 9 February 2022 Tottenham Hotspur 2–3 Southampton 12 February 2022 Manchester United 1–1 Southampton 19 February 2022 Southampton 2–0 Everton 25 February 2022 Southampton 2–0 Norwich City [Post edited 24 Oct 10:42]

Thanks Dirk for highlighting the demise of our club since SR took over. I think we'd all forgotten the good times in the Premier league. It's going to be a while before we achieve such good results in the Premier lge, at least we enjoyed winning many games last season in Championship. But as enjoyable as last season was in the way of results, we really want to consolidate in the Premier lge.

Why? Why can't people see it's the owners who need removing? on 11:20 - Oct 24 by MytchettSaint | I remember walking out after that Norwich game thinking we’d challenge for a European spot. Then we went on that run where we managed to beat Arsenal to guarantee survival Sports Republic have been poor custodians of our club overall. I know some people will point to last seasons record run but they are going to match that with one even worse this season. |
There’s no getting away from the fact that they bought us as a mid table/bottom half PL club and we are now a top six Championship level club. Is that their fault?

I’d say so, yes. They’ve been at the helm long enough to effect change. It’s just not been done for any perceivable benefit when you look at the before and now comparison you put up.

I have a theory that we a club which needs active scrutinising measures on every player we sign, regardless of the price. We had this under Gao, though in terrible circumstances money wise. It’s this lack of scrutiny, with our new found wealth, which has caught us out and created a system of lacklustre recruitment. Though having said there are many flaws in my argument. Fernandez, THB, and to a certain extent Downes have been good signings recently. But the flunking of money on Onuachu and Sulemana for example shows this in action. More money than sense.

Cornet too!! That was astonishingly bad It’s true they are running us into the ground and extended Martins contract was insanity, he just have bitten their hand off and to an extent now why should he change he holds all the cards knowing this. Ludicrous. How come we seem to endlessly attract back owners who are clueless about football!? We will be an embarrassment come May I am afraid

Ok, he's got a job guarantee for the next couple of years, but what will that do for his Cv? He's still a young manager that I would have thought would want to do his best and show future employees of his management skills. No ambitious club would take him on

Why? Why can't people see it's the owners who need removing? on 14:37 - Oct 24 with 1736 views | I_would | At least everyone now knows for sure that the whole operation is geared around mid table Championship after the latest public backing for the hapless manager. It must have had them quaking in their boots when RM accidentally won at Wembley. I thought we'd be mathematically down by xmas when the window closed, but we're down already, but SR are saving cash and RM is racking up possession stats. Great.

Why? Why can't people see it's the owners who need removing? on 14:58 - Oct 24 with 1706 views | 1885_SFC | It's almost as if Saints were going to take the PL by storm this season - winning game after game under RM's possession-based, thrilling, exciting football... possibly top 6 by the end of October... and thus, SR were scared sh1tless that their main man was going to be poached around Christmas by an underperforming giant (Man United) - so we'd better extend his contract, just in case. It's laughable really, but you have to admire SR's (blind) faith for the fella. RM has conned them well and truly!

Why? Why can't people see it's the owners who need removing? on 16:31 - Oct 24 with 1640 views | Ifonly | Yes I can see that the owners are disastrous, but I can also see that RM is disastrous too. He is a symptom of their mismanagement, 3 year contract and all. He is their man. The position of the owners doesn't change the fact that RM needs to go. He is a dead end for SFC. We will never be successful in the PL when he is manager because we can't afford the players to play like Man City. And because he is a dead end, the sooner he goes the better. Anything else is just dragging out the agony. Replacing him with a random manager at least gives us a chance. We have no chance at all under RM. What's the worst that could happen? Relegation with record low points? That's what we're heading for anyway.
Why? Why can't people see it's the owners who need removing? on 17:20 - Oct 24 with 1599 views | saint901 | Stripped of hysteria, an owner can be removed only if they are willing to sell or they are persons thought not to fit and proper to run a football club. Looking at owners of PL clubs, that "fit and proper" hurdle is clearly very low and anybody who isn't a belly crawling animal can get over it. Why would they sell now? A season the PL enriches them regardless of results. The parachute payments shelter them. Selling after the parachute runs out might be viable, but that is three and half seasons away. Why bother buying out RM's contract? As you say, another manager would want more money anyway, so it's a double hit. Does SR care if a small number of fans who can be bothered to post here are unhappy? Nah! We make up what, a thirtieth of a full ground. No, we will continue to vent or unheeded fury to no purpose.
