Only three teams have conceded fewer! And a positive goal difference! Some turnaround.

Carry on like this and we'll be ok.

Bodes well for next season if we stay up.

The upside is we now have a decent manager, just hope the damage before Marti arrived won't prove too much.. The signs are promising again that we can get out of the mess we are in. Still believe it hinges on us delivering results at home, which have been our downfall in last couple of years and not going on these 4 or 5 game losses in a row.

That really is quite some turn-around isn't it? What if, and if only, really don't cover it.

You can normally only look back and see the sliding doors moments, but staying up this season or not looms as a massive one. At least now it feels like we have something and someone to pin our hopes on.

COME ON YOU R'S.

ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE THROUGH MARTI THE REDEEMER WHO STRENGTHENS ME.

Stefan Moore, Stefan Moore running down the wing. Stefan Moore, Stefan Moore running down the wing. He runs like a cheetah, his crosses couldn't be sweeter. Stefan Moore. Stefan Moore. Stefan Moore.

We probably should be higher up that table as well, we should really have at least five more points from the games against Plymouth and Sheffield Wednesday.

Jesus. If they'd realised they could sponsor the stands 15 months ago, we could have got him then, and avoided the Critch/Ainsworth mess and we'd be looking at promotion now.
Probably.

Bare bones.

Or if the owners had a brain cell and shaken hands with Ainsworth at the end of last season with a "thanks for keeping us up, but that's not a way we ever want to play again" and then got Marti in......dunno if he was available then though.

We don’t know

A) how much it would have cost to get rid of Ainsworth

B) how much it would have cost to bring Marti in at the time.

So was probably a good reason we didn’t do that. Also Ainsworth was unbeaten in three and had just beaten Burnley at the end of last season so wasn’t like we were in free fall. The politics and perception of managers are fleeting.

This is all well and good and all.... but sorry to burst the bubble, but we're still third from bottom.

Yeh but equally we were fortunate in most of the games we won. Even on Saturday against Blackburn Chair’s shot goes in off the goalies back for the first goal and Armstrong breaking free on the left was more luck than judgement for the second. We might have easily drawn or lost that game. I think we’re just about where we deserve to be as things stand but things are looking up.

Not sure what game you were watching on Saturday. But the only team that looked like winning was QPR. Blackburn were toilet!

But you have to buy a ticket to win the lottery. Chair made that goal by jinking passed the defenders and getting a powerful shot off. Some say it would have been unlucky if it rebounded back out to safety. As for the second, that's football - a team taking their chances rather than spurning them.

We won 3 out of 12 between March and May, during which time we lost 6-1 to Blackpool. That was rounded off by the 0-2 home defeat to Bristol on the last day of the season.

It was complete and utter trash and to pretend otherwise is insane. It's got nothing to do with politics and perception of the manager.

Of course, but if I made the decisions I wouldn't have cared about Ainsworth being unbeaten in three or winning at Burnley. I would have seen his approach over the last year and realised the end of the season would have made a lot of sense to get rid.

Amazing stats, obviously better than Gareth but we must thank him for bringing in Cook, Colback and dare I dare Begovich. As an ex keeper you only remember the mistakes but he has also saved us. Squad now looks transformed

Without wishing to go over this again, giving Ainsworth pre-season and letting him spend what little budget we had was criminal

I’ve seen us lose plenty of games against crap teams that we should have beaten. Like I said thing’s are looking up but we are still in deep sh!t and probably deservedly so IMO.

Not disagreeing with any of that I was just pointing out that although we were unlucky against Sheff Weds and others we have had good fortune also.

Interesting table. Will add to the debate over the role the Manager has played in our demise over the last few seasons versus the character and ability of the players. Looking at that, suggests midtable security is achievable, even with these players.

Tbf we played really well at home to Watford also and think had three times as many shots as them and lost out to Jake Livermore pinging in two twenty yard potshots into the back of our net.

I get that, but if you got rid of Ainsworth you couldn’t have had Marti without breaking FFP.

It’s not as simple as ‘just get rid’ anymore. As a fanbase we need to grapple with the financial legislation that rules almost every decision we make.

Can't follow your logic on that one Bazz.

We got rid of Ainsworth anyhow. And seems way we did it was sponsorship of stands etc...

We all know about FFP and the rules.

We somehow got four new players in also after offloading Dozzell. Again, can't believe we risking FFP breach by doing so.

Jesus Christ mate.
If that wasn't freefall I don't know what is.
The Burnley result was perhaps the luckiest win in the history of football.

As a fanbase, we don't in fact have to "grapple with the financial legislation that rules almost every decision we make."

That's for the owners.

The only thing we must grapple with is supporting the team as best we can, while talking made-up bollocks on the Internet about it.

Part of that involves working out from the official (and unofficial) club communications what the financial position is. Because we do not in truth know what it is. How can you grapple with something invisible? We have no idea about FFP yet.

The latest communication about the financial position was that we would do no business in the January window. That was clearly expressed in the CEO's only interview.

In fact, just a few weeks later, we did a lot of business in the January transfer window, including signing two players from Premier League clubs.

So, if the will had been there - which I don't believe it was post-Les, as there was a massive vacuum due to one small, irritable American running the entire club last summer - QPR could've definitely dispensed with Ainsworth in July rather than the autumn. Ifs and buts...but Marti in charge of pre-season would've guaranteed a better 23-24 season.

But we are where we are. Let the club worry about the money, about FFP. You'll never know the truth until it's too late. And there's nothing fans can do about it anyway.
