A very welcome return to winning ways and we are seeing a little more width, albeit defensive width, but it’s offering some hope and a little light at the end of a very long dark tunnel.

We have had a very favourable run of 5 games however, with all teams we picked 3 points up from being in the bottom half currently, and 3 of the 4 being in the bottom 6.

Our next 4 games are against teams we should be seeing as our equals, it’s being able to impose ourselves on these that will see where we stand as a team, not against the likes of Wigan, Cardiff and Huddersfield.

Continue this form in the last 4 games and I would be happy to see if Russ can continue this into next season. Revert to type however and I won’t see it as anything other than yet another false dawn against inferior teams.

All up to him now.

What I would say is that in practice, games against mid table teams should be ‘easier’ than those fighting relegation at this time if the season. So results against Wigan, Hudds etc. are good ones.

Although there’s little to no chance of making the POs, I hope they keep their concentration levels high because the way we finish this season may play a big part as to how we start the next.

When one reflects ,it shows our dumbass defending and endless needless passing into trouble has clearly cost us a PO place.
We will probably see Luton and forking Miwwwall in the play offs . It makes me sick frankly .

And possibly the level of investment in the summer, if any.

Last press article said they won’t be spending big in the summer. No surprise there!

Nah it’s a myth.

Cardiff are 23rd in the form table.
Wigan are 20th in the form table.
Bristol City are 21st in the form table.

Huddersfield have had an upturn in form but that’s about it. Those currently at the bottom now (QPR, Rotherham and Reading) also occupy the bottom of the form table, 24th, 22nd and 19th respectively.

People aren’t having any issues playing these teams.

When we did face a top half team (Coventry), we very much struggled to impose anything of any note on them.

This side as it is wouldn’t survive in the premier league even with additions, sometimes it’s best just to look forwards.

I thought the same last time we were promoted Keith.

This season has been a real let down we have a better squad than our position suggests.

The blame lies firmly with the manager.

I am slightly concerned about the mentality of the manager. Very much in the modern vogue of wearing your feeling on the sleeve. A new angle on gambling today. He does not need to go there in a club press conference.

He admits he under performed after the January transfer window. He was forced to pay Cullen Cooper Darling more and re integrate Walsh and Patterson. I will not argue this self applied slump cost the club a shot at the playoffs. Swansea under Martin is always 6 point away from the pay offs.

He would have been happier throwing away £3m of the owners money to buy Key and Ogbene but both are available in the Summer for £3m less than that. Swansea have continued score without Obafemi and Grant.

It would be good for Martin to beat last season 61 points if only for the "optics".

I did not expect Swansea to beat Huddesfield based on the last 20 months so perhaps there is change and improvement in the air. The defensive howlers seem to be less common thses days which is a good habit.

The issue i have is that our season is over, we are playing well with nothing to play for and with no pressure.
We've also been beating teams that are very much in the mire and struggling.

Cardiff local Derby away
Coventry play off contenders
Huddersfield 6th on current form even after losing to us.

Very much in the mire and struggling. OK.

Shame that Martin hasn’t had us playing like it all season.

A massive missed opportunity.

There are still a lot of unknowns.
Even if there is potential investment are the executives at the club capable of getting the targets?

And will Piroe stay or will he be sold as an asset?

We have to sell any player of significant value who refuses to sign another contract with 12 months left to run.

Manning was probably on the cusp of that value, what would we have got for him? £1.5m?

Can see why it was easier to keep him.

Exactly, as you have said before if you turn down a fee with only 12 months left on a contract, you have to look at is as a loan fee you are paying.

The real test starts now ?

No it doesn’t. It started last August. We are playing well and winning games. And keeping clean sheets at last.

Beating in mind the lack of investment on the playing side we’ve had a reasonably good season and we’re it not for (too many) individual errors we could well be play off contenders. I like the style. It’s who we are as a club. We are different. The manager has shown he’s a strong character as well when the chips were down. That’s a good quality.

Huddersfield 19th, Cardiff 21st, Wigan 24th. They are there for a reason.
3 wins vs poor opposition isn't good enough to cancel out the previous 20 games where we barely picked up a win.

Carl Morris for Luton has been fantastic a player we should have gone for ages ago when he was at Barnsley . Strong good shot good finisher .
Bradshaw for the londoners has also been superb
