Not really. Salah (sp?) wanted to get back to Nantes to say goodbye to his mates/pick up some stuff and come back a couple of days later. Airline flights all went via LHR, CDG, etc so would have been a right ballache what with getting to and from Cardiff and Nantes at either end.
The agent tries a private conpany he's used before to make it all much easier. They don't get the pilot and plane they normally get but get a substitute. They preseume it's OK as it's the same company.
Maybe the subsitute plane was a bit old, maybe the pilot was in fact unlicensed but what the authorities are really interested in is whether a small single engined plane should be taking off at night in really bad weather conditions and attempting to fly across a serious expanse of water. |  |
