Season ticket renewal 18:13 - Jul 25 with 6413 views | EalingHoop81 | Has anyone else like me managed to miss the renewal deadline and tried to renew through the box office? It was ridiculous today. Essentially having tried to navigate the new website and the personalised season ticket page it was clear that I had to call up and couldn't find the non loyalty window price anywhere. I spoke to a guy at the box office who informed me that to renew now would be £585 or so with the booking fee. I was somewhat taken aback as I sit in the R block of Ellerslie and to find my client ref number had found the renewal confirmation emails from last year and the year before and politely asked the guy how that could be correct when 2015 (post relegation with hopes of bouncing back) it was £450 and now it could be £585!?!? Apparently once I missed the loyalty window there was a significant price increase. Just to be clear the prices listed for existing season ticket holders in the loyalty window was £465 and for a new season ticket holder was £499. Now I get they made it clear that early renewal would be rewarded and there would be an increase etc but out of principal I'm not going to pay £85 more than someone who has never had a season ticket and happens to buy on 31 May when I have been a season ticket for 20 of the past 23 years or something daft. I cannot see the current prices listed anywhere and wondered if anyone else had the same experience. I fully appreciate I could have renewed on 31 May but I happened to be absolutely manic at work for a few months and to be frank QPR was the last thing on my mind after the season we had. Now I live in Hertfordshire and have a young family and commute into london, the desire to keep coming back year after year starts to wane. So today the club have guaranteed less revenue as I'm not going to make more than 15 games and I won't automatically renew my season ticket next year etc etc. Sorry for the essay just feel somewhat shortsighted if the club.
Season ticket renewal on 18:25 - Jul 25 with 5318 views | simmo | The renewal window was open for ages, I understand the difference between renewal and new is annoying but it's there to reward loyalty, the part you have to play in that is confirming your renewal with enough time for them to offer your seat if you're not interested. Also 585 is for Gold (maybe Platinum) where as R Block is Silver so new would only be £500 I think.

Yes I would have thought so too re the pricing but that wasn't they told me. I would have paid £500 as clearly I was late to renew. But the price I was quoted was £585 and I queried it accordingly. I can't see where the prices are listed on the website, which led to the post. Whilst your point on the loyalty makes sense at say United or Arsenal, we are not going to sell out, we're not exactly tearing up trees,, this is not an exclusive members club where people are fighting to get in, this is QPR and the club have just lost money on telling me it's £585 to renew my ticket.

Oh and the loyalty window closed on 31 May, a couple of weeks after the season. Just because they opened it before the season finished doesn't really mean it provided a lot of time - we didn't know what division we would be in until the final home game!

But you knew the price and presumably the team that you support? Not quite sure what your argument is here. You didn't renew during the period that there was a discount for renewing. As a result you are paying a premium to the price that was previously on offer.

Well a fairly straightforward one. I didn't expect a premium of £120 or - the prices are available on the interactive stadium map and the price is now £585. A season ticked in bronze with our team and our recent history is massively overpriced at that amount. I have a young family and trudging down to Rangers on a Saturday on my own isn't massively appealing - as most of the posters on here testify to week in week out. Just because I have spent 36 years supporting Rangers doesn't mean that I will just buy the ticket regardless. In a time when were harking back to the spirit of 2003/4 with this Cave nonsense it feels a pretty steep hike on the price for the value I'm being presented with. So having missed the window, I'm not renewing and I won't make it to more than 15 games, and we won't sell out regularly so the club will likely lose money on me not renewing. Seems a bit steep for Bronze. I would be surprised if it is correct. Just found the prices on the offy by using the search box. Bronze is £480. Silver is £585 which is what I think yours is in R as my mate is gold in S.
Season ticket renewal on 20:52 - Jul 25 with 5080 views | CliveWilsonSaid | I'd have thought an exception should be possible here. If true you've been season ticket holder for most of the last 23 years. I'd say £499 and a slap on the wrist and a final warning would be reasonable. Did you try escalating it to someone more senior? To be honest that was what I was hoping for but expected it would be different this year. I look at the website mainly on my phone not a desktop and the interactive stadium doesn't work well or come up so I didn't know the price. I was genuinely taken aback and the guy really couldn't care less. A couple of years ago I was away and realised I missed the deadline. They called me the next week and asked if I would like to renew and they offered me the reduced price. This year I don't think they can do that as they have made such a deal of getting everyone signed up early, clearly so that they can budget better. I was expecting to pay the higher price, I just did not think that would be £120 or so. Still I suppose I get the pleasure of waiting to see if I can get tickets as a non member and paying a £3.50 booking twice a month.

Ultimately you are in the wrong and missed the deadline. I agree the rise is too steep, but if you want the outcome, your best bet would be to write a nice letter, explaining your mistake and asking for an exception. I suspect a normal box office member would not be able to process it as all prices would be automatically increased now, but a manager could apply some sort of discount. If you write them a letter complaining about everything I suspect you won't get anywhere, but you can always do that after so better to keep that i your backpocket. Or email Mr Fernandes..

Season ticket renewal on 22:44 - Jul 25 with 4833 views | Northernr | Few points... 1 - I don't think anybody would argue with you that £585 to watch QPR, particularly this QPR team, is too much. 2 - The loyalty window was three months long, with several pay days, and was well advertised and known about. Even when it was much later in the year, you'd still be past it now at the end of July. It's a bit harsh on the club to say "I rang them to renew my season ticket 10 days before the season started and they wouldn't give me the early bird prices the bstrds". 3 - Hoos has explained exactly why the window has, rightly, shifted much earlier, back to where it used to be and where it should be. At the moment our biggest income is parachute payments, then season tickets, then TV (I think, TV might be ahead of it though not sure at this level). Season after next, no more parachute payments. That means the club's biggest income will be season tickets. Now we already know that doesn't even cover the running costs of the club, without salaries, so it puts us in a tight spot, but it means they definitely need to know by June what's coming in from season tickets so they can plan a playing budget for the following season. It's no use to them people renewing or buying season tickets in July, so they need to incentivise people to buy early, and discourage them from buying late. You'll make sure you renew in the window next time, which is what they need you to do. 4 - Your comment about "we didn't even know what division we'd be in then" is important. If you're suggesting that you probably wouldn't have renewed if we'd gone to League One, then that's why you have to pay more. You're paying more to have that choice. If the club did go down to League One or Two after the end of the parachute money then the club becomes basically wholly reliant on the season ticket and ticket money. Those people who will fork over their money for a season ticket regardless of what division QPR are in literally become the absolute lifeblood of the club, so they need to be rewarded and incentivised to continue behaving like that by getting a discount. People who say "I'm not paying that to watch them play Bury" are fine and welcome as well, but they need to understand that they might have to pay a premium to have that choice.

You've made a point here, then mentioned below the exact reason it doesn't add up when you say " they have made such a deal of getting everyone signed up early, clearly so that they can budget better". The loyalty issue isn't to about selling out or not. It is because in times of newfound austerity at the club, with parachute payments dissipating quickly, and FFP looming large, the club are having to make a strong push to being self-sustainable. Subsequently, it is massive for them to have a bit more of an idea of their budget as early as possible, especially considering that fans are then going to spend 3 months hammering them to make more signings and spend more money. It isn't unreasonable for them to offer the incentive to those who show loyalty and sign up early, and it is worth it for the club to start sorting out the books. Why would they undermine the whole scheme for £585?

No it's just that £585 is absolutely ridiculous. It's not an incentive - they have just increased the price whilst he product is worse. I would be surprised if they sell any at that price simply because it is such an increase. Yes the club need to get their house in order and being able to budget is vita - incidentally that has clearly worked wonders on getting business done early too

1. Agreed 2. At no point have I said anything like that. I wasn't expecting the reduced price and had it been £50 more or so I would still have renewed but £585 isn't a true price - I would love to see the number of actual sales to demonstrate that. Itis not an early season sale followed by restoring back to the original price. It is just prohibitively expensive to try and demonstrate the need to renew early. They might as well have just closed the season tickets sales at that point because it's just a ludicrously high price for what is offered. 3. Agreed in the first part. Not the second part. I buy a season ticket every year for the same reasons you often refer to in your reports - it's the place, the prople, it's just what I do..... until it's not. Like a lot of fans I don't live in West London and it would be very easy to cease going as the actual matches often feel more like a chore than enjoyable day out. 4. Spot on and as I said earlier I accept not getting a loyalty discount but there is paying more and being ripped off.

I do sympathise mate, but if it really pisses you off this much (and i understand why, that's a crazy cost), then i don't really get why you didn't do it earlier. I think I left it until i knew we were safe (although to be fair i would have renewed even had we gone down) but even then there was still plenty of time. Plus loads of ways to pay. I've just searched my emails and I've found four emails from the club reminding me, with links to my own personal page explaining the costs. I dunno man. I see your point, but: 'I expected a penalty - but not this big' is a pretty odd argument to make. You're not so worried about cash that you'd understand needlessly paying £85 extra, but you are worried enough that £150 extra would make you mad. As the Pub Landlord would say, Rules is Rules.

Season ticket renewal on 10:21 - Jul 26 with 4552 views | simmo | The moral of the story is if you want the reduced price, sign up when the incentivised price is still live. If you missed it then it's your fault and you have to pay for your mistake. The fact it's disgustingly overpriced, which it is, is irrelevant to that point and although I understand why it would annoy you, it's structured this way for a reason.

I believe there is still an early bird discount for those who buy a new season ticket before a certain date, regardless of renewal. I may well be wrong however.
Season ticket renewal on 13:24 - Jul 26 with 4320 views | EalingHoop81 | Thanks all for the opinions and insight. The moral of the story is clearly to renew in time and I fully accepted that when i called the box office. I didn't ask for a discount and didn't expect it. But what sticks is simply that the price or uplift is insane. If they could sell tickets at that price then it's poor commercial sense to have given effectively a £120 'incentive' to renew early. But of course they couldn't have sold at that price. So anyone in my position - self inflicted as it is, pays a 25% premium. Which is literally just excessively punitive for being late. I can afford it but am not willing to pay it. So I'll go to let's say 15 games this year at the £31.50 or so including the crazy booking fee and that comes out at around £472.50. But the seat won't be sold the rest of the time and the club will end up loosing revenue from it. It also risks me not coming to those games because let's be honest at times over the past 4 years it atrocious and I genuinely haven't enjoyed a large portion of the games. Had the price been £515 or £525 i.e £50 or £60 more than the loyalty window I would have paid it as that would be about fair. £585 Is ridiculous. As I said in a reply to NorthernR I would be interested to see how many sales at the 'full price' have actually been made. Anyway I really need to stop repeating the same stuff as one of the reasons I missed the window was pulling a 70 weeks most weeks in May and as I'm in the middle of some more of those I should really get back to sorting out my clients audits. As I said in a reply to NorthernR I would be interested to see how many sales at the 'full price' have actually been made. Anyway I really need to stop repeating the same stuff as one of the reasons I missed the window was pulling a 70 weeks most weeks in May and as I'm in the middle of some more of those I should really get back to sorting out my clients audits. ok one final thing Ealing. If you go to 15 games and you pay £472 as you suggest... Is that not a far, far worse deal, than 23 games for £585? That's 8 extra games at £13 each, effectively. Just sayin.
