the age old question:

how old is too old to be wearing trainers.....

this 42 year olds teenage son thinks i am too old to be wearing trainers
for the record, i do wear them every day, but not in the restaurant
i only have nike, but about a dozen different ones
nike seem to have a wider fitting than others, which suits my feet that i stand on for about 18 hours every day

so when does it become too old to wear trainers?

It's not what you've got; it's where you stick it.

You're too old for flashing lights but the little wheels are still ok.

its not just how old you are, its whether you still use them in anger. if you cant see your trainers because your stomach is in the way and you are over 50, then I suggest you should put on slippers or proper lace ups...

Why stop now, just when I'm hating it

I'll always wear them. Well, actually I wear skate shoes because they are usually nice and thick and durable. The problem there is that Vans, who used to be great, now make all their skate shoes look stupid.

I'm currently on a pair of cheap Airwalks which are super comfortable but not very waterproof. So I'm now looking for a waterproof skate shoe that is relatively plain and not tw@tty.

Still wear converse, sambas or similar casually.

What's the alternative? Moccasins?

I'm old enough to wear what I bloody well like.
Which means trainers. Stan Smiths are nice. Converse look good but they're so shoddily made. Like having a thin sheet of cardboard between my feet and the pavement.

p.s. I recommend DM's in this weather.

Reckon it's okay to wear trainers over 50 so long as there's no discernible label on them.

Any form of walking bill board should be consigned to the young. Over a certain age you are not promotional.

Not true. Everyone aspires to being me. It's hard to stay humble sometimes.

At 61 I remember fondly remember getting all excited over graduating from wearing Green Flashes, to a pair of Gola Harriers.

These days I recognise the luxury of comfortable footwear, and as previously noted , I'll wear what I bloody well like.

While the days of Vans and the like are long gone, find Asics gel Aratas difficult to resist.

I run and over 40 years old . Like Saucony trainers for running and when I buy a new pair use the old ones for general walking and often wear them most days as more comfortable. I am not into trainers as a fashion statement but have around 30 minutes daily walking to and from station so more comfortable.

I'm 52 and I wear Merrells all day.
I have several pairs that range from trainers to shoes to walking shoes, but they all go with well with jeans or casual trousers.
