What on earth is going on down there? Now selling Chambers as well.

Have they got any good players left that we can bid for!? Hell bent on selling everything it seems.

Mental. Looks like some kind of asset stripping going on, Lambert, Lallana and Shaw all sold, Schneiderlin, Lovren and now Chambers like likely to follow. Did they gamble on landing a Champions League place and now have a financial gap to fill?

We were linked with Fonte at one point but I think that was insurance against Caulker deciding not to join.

Sadly for Soton the children do not have the same passion for the team their father had, can see a Thompson like asset strip before they get sold.

This is presumably why Cortese resigned in January, as he knew Katharina Liebherr wanted to cash in asap (at the time Katharina Liebherr's involvement was presented as her wanting 'more say' in how the club was run).

Martin Samuel in particular showed great glee at Cortese's departure:

Except the post that wanted to ditch the parachute payments. That and FFP would definitely cement the places of the top 5 and make it impossible for any other club to enter that exclusive club.

A mate of mine works at Saints Academy and reckons the current crop are just the tip of the iceberg and they have a lot more to come up through the ranks.

I thought Southampton were purging the academy too...

Why do we need a training ground like Southampton?

Northern I think the words "Nail & Head" spring to mind

It's not the training ground that produces these players, it's having a massive catchment area, very good scouts and excellent coaches.

Shame that Chambers is going to Arsenal though, good right back who won't get a game as Arsenal just signed the Newcastle right back, another Englishman getting very few games

Despite some of their posters trolling on our board when we got relegated because of their hatred of Harry, I do feel that what has happened there over the last few months is depressing because it just shows how much of a closed shop the Premier League has become and how it's impossible for any upstarts to break into the cartel that is the current top 6 or7 because as soon as they look like doing so their best players will be asset stripped by the big boys.
And of course FFP will just cement this in place permanently and irrevocably.
