Decent Start For Ralph Hasenhuttl At Wolfsburg
at 09:52 9 Sep 2024

It is early days, but after saving them from relegation at the tail end of last season, Ralph seems to be doing well in the Bundesliga for Wolfsburg, they won the opening game away to Holstein Kiel and in the second lost 3-2 at home to Bayern Munich to a late goal.

They have also won away in the first round of the German cup.

In pre season they drew 4-4 at Brentford

Good to see he is back and doing well

2nd Best Month Since January 2018
at 09:55 6 Sep 2024

Thanks to everyone for their contributions to this site, last month was our second best month since January 2018, when it was exceptional due to the departure of Virgil Van Dijk.

August 2024 was second only to August 2023, but only by 4,000 page impressions, as I had a few days away around the Newcastle game and with the transfer window ending on a Friday night when I was at a birthday party, I think we would have easily have gained those extra 4,000 hits if I had been sat putting up the late transfer business.

Good points, whatever peoples opinions of him etc, the fact was he did get up promoted and showed in the final games he could change the style a little, he deserves a chance.

Martin fighting for his job…
at 10:45 5 Sep 2024

Most of the Russell Martin's job are on the line rumours come from pundits such as Richard Keys giving their opinion.

Whilst it is almost certainly true that SR & the club's board will have a list of options they will approach if it comes to sacking Martin, they will not be panicking yet, they will just be prepared.

Richard keys is just basing his opinions on what usually happens in these cases, a manager loses 3 games in a row and he is under pressure, lose another 3 and he is in trouble

Looks like he could be staying in house so to speak, but I suspect it is a move to up the ante with Trabzonspor

Edozie leaving
at 16:00 4 Sep 2024

I too wish him all the best, I dont know why, but a certain section of our fanbase just take a dislike to players, a couple of years ago no one was shedding any tears when Nathan Tella went to Burnley, he did well and suddenly everyone is moaning at the club for letting him go.

I can't understand why there has to be so much abuse aimed at them

Of course it was vital it enabled us to bring in players that helped us to promotion, without it we wouldnt have been able to but Ross Stewart & Shea Charles, as well as the wages and loan fees of Taylor Harwood Bellis, Ryan Fraser, Flynn Downes. David Brookes, Mason Holgate & Joe Rothwell not to mention hang on to Kyle Walker Peters.

Without that money we would not have been able to do that

I dont think £10 million for Edozie would have put us into administration, in fairness 12 starts and 12 sub appearances and 6 goals and 3 assists wasn't bad.

A winning goal against QPR (Blackburn as well as he got the first in a 4-0 win lol) an equaliser against Coventry plus an assist in a 2-1 win against Plymouth were contributions that counted.

Good luck to him, he might not have been a brilliant success, but he did make contributions last season and I would suggest that if he does well out on loan we should recoup most of what we paid for him including this seasons loan fee.

But of course let us not get rational thinking get in the way of a good rant and a chance to suggest the club would be in administration if it hadn't been for Lavia

The Solution Is Clear For Russell Martin If He Is To Stay In His Job
at 11:42 3 Sep 2024

Whilst I agree with your points, I would point out it didnt end when Bazunu got injured, initially we played it and it was clear that McCarthy was not competent enough, things got worse before they got better,

It was only in the final game of the regular season at Leeds, after a run of bad results, Leicester especially, that we seemed to stop putting him in dodgy situations and not playing the ball to him virtually on our own goaline and we reaped the rewards in the play offs

It should be noted that it is not a fact, merely a supposition on my part, i also think that most teams play a version of it, but they fine tune it to their own abilities and that is what we need to do

!!!!!!!!!! Russell Martin out !!!!!!!!!!!
at 13:53 2 Sep 2024

With Hasenhuttl we should have stuck with him, he would have held the squad together and got us out, we might never known that but he would have done better than the other 2.

Dyche came into an Everton squad with players in it who suited his style, some of them have now left and he has struggled since , I dont think he would have been the answer here.

Most football clubs have a hit list of managers they would approach when the current one is sacked, but the problem is Sport Republic want to play in a certain style
