As I said many times about us down the years - if you keep sacking the manager and things don’t improve, even for a short period, then the manager isn’t your problem.

Yeah but...don't sell your principles for the money, Hughton.

I think he's a top manager especially at championship level. Really struggling to find out why it's gone bellyup at forest

He was a good manager but failed to adapt. He still uses an ultra defensive 4-4-2. He finished badly at Brighton only winning 3 of his last 23 games. For years his teams have struggled to score goals. Bet they wished they had stuck with MW when they see how he has turned us around on a shoestring budget.

Same way when clubs had a DoF & coach set up where the DoF was responsible for deciding which players to recruit (and sort out transfers, wages etc) and the coach was given the players and basically told to get on with it. If it didn’t work the coach got the sack. Seemingly no such punishment for the DoF. Cushty.

Manager’s are always the ones in the firing line but the problems can often be deeper than that but seems never to be addressed. Just keep hiring (and firing) more managers. Wash, rinse, repeat as Clive also said.

No question problems run deeper but goodwill towards Hughton is clouding judgement. He has done very little with what he's had (fairly generous last season, FFP restricted this) and deserves his portion of the blame. Even Worrall and Garner are struggling there now.

It looked as though at least they were making steps to get their house in order - huge clearout, but seemingly unable to properly revamp without a big sale (their own decision to resist offers for Brennan Johnson in fairness). Yet after the much-vaunted hiring of the Barnsley DOF (and others) it was amusing/frightening to see another coachload of the usual shady agent/Olympiakos jobs arrive on deadline day.

Alex Neil reportedly a guest yesterday...

It's the Forest way.

Daniel Taylor, a journo with close links to Forest tweeted that it wouldn't be Terry or Wilder. My guess is someone from abroad

Fingers crossed its Terry he will get a lovely reception at the Kiyan Prince/Loftus Road , a very strange choice if he gets the job but they are a basket case of a club so they are well suited....

Have left Hughton's right hand man Steven Reid there as caretaker just in case it looked like they were being purposeful.

Not sure if hiring the successive Austrians at Barnsley were part of his role there but this should be a good indicator of how committed they are to the new DOF.

Incidentally it remains quite funny to see the Athletic keep having Paul and Daniel Taylor simultaneously posting craven puppet shilling and fierce criticism of the club respectively.

Steve Cooper is the obvious choice and the favourite.

I was sure Hughton would sort them out, been such a good manager over the years but that club look a real mess

Cooper.

The one man who is more defensive minded than Hughton!
