Didn't Brierley recently sign a professional contract?

Hull have signed a midfielder today so maybe their interest in Ratters has diminished??

Yes

I was adding Wade & Brierley to list of those whose contracts don't end this summer

Only a few days left! Are the players BBM has his eyes on any closer to coming, fitzo? Or will there be no incomings at all unless we can offload some players?

Interesting story in the Sunday Mirror about David Buchanan at Chesterfield where the manager has told him that he won’t play him again this season and has put him on furlough along with several other players.
The thrust of the article questions how they can put legally put players on furlough and then sign replacements.
Anyway, he’s a genuine leftback and available!

I don’t know how Chesterfield can possibly furlough a player while the business is still operating normally.
The furlough scheme is specifically for employers whose businesses cannot operate normally due to Covid 19.

Under furlough he is allowed to work elsewhere as long as he isn't adding value to his existing employer. Not sure if he would need their permission, and also how the bubble gubbins would work.

Furlough is there to avoid lay offs or redundancy. Signing replacement players would surely be illegal, whereas it seems furloughing some positions and recruiting for others is not.

Apparently the situation has been approved by the National League.
Chesterfield claimed that they would have moved the players on in normal circumstances but were prevented from doing so as recruitment by clubs has slowed down due to the pandemic.
They therefore had no option but to put them on furlough.
Makes you wonder what the PFA think about it.
It’s like us putting Marty Done on furlough because no-one wants to sign him.
The government pay his wages and we go out and sign a leftback using the money freed up.
Strange.

The employee must agree to being furloughed.

The government pay 80% of wages up to £2,500 per month I think and the employer pays NI and pension contributions.

Deadline day is here and Fitzo is up early...

Irish ✅
Good pedigree ✅
League experience ✅

Looks like a good start from BBM, hopefully a couple more to follow! We’ve only got 7 players contracted beyond the end of the season so it’s good to see some longer term planning.

Gut feel says we may have seen the last of McShane

McShane is contracted to the summer so I don’t think we’ve seen the last of him yet.

Could McShane take on a coaching role perhaps?

Not too sure. He’d probably get injured leaping from the bench to shout some instructions.

I wouldn’t mind him taking defensive coaching duties might put the fear of god into people coming in on a Monday morning if you’ve dropped a clanger at weekend. He might sharpen their focus on a Saturday and midweek week whilst on the pitch.
