£3 million in wages and bonuses for the loan deal according to twitter. Other clubs were sniffing, but deterred by the financial implications.

Take those figures with a huge pitch of salt. In June that was widely reported as being what Sheff Wed wanted as a loan fee. Norwich rejected it and walked away. Wednesday desperate to get rid apparently came back with an offer which was then accepted. Whispers are it’s more like 500k loan fee plus wages.

I had to do a double take Norwich signing someone who isn’t German!

David Button - Fulham to Brighton

When I was your age, I used to enjoy the odd game of tennis. Or was it golf?

It's all getting a bit silly down at Salford:

Wow.
I seem to remember that when the owners took over they said that they were aiming for gradual improvement and weren't going to throw silly money at the project.....
They might be in for a shock though.
It's a very competitive league and however carefully you assemble a side you can't always be sure that they'll fancy Gateshead or Barrow away on a Tuesday night in November.

Doesn't Financial Fair Play apply to the National League?

No, it doesn't. Apparently this is one reason why Forest Green struggled in League 2 last season because they had to curb their spending in line with FFP once they got promoted. A small debate here:

Which is why it's daft to offer £4k-per-week contracts at more than a season's length.

If Salford get promoted this season, they will be subject to the same FFP as everybody else the next.

Which is why it's daft to offer £4k-per-week contracts at more than a season's length.

If Salford get promoted this season, they will be subject to the same FFP as everybody else the next.

"So Mr Rooney and friends if we are to get promoted you will receive as a bonus i.e the rest of your contractual wages 1 game before the end of the season...and the following season you will play for just bonuses"

Could they get away with something like that ?

The problem they have is that they have no core support. Moor Lane is hardly deepest darkest Salford, so the people of Salford have no real affinity with the club, and from what I can see, there's no attempt at all to have any sort of community involvement to spread the name of the club especially to try and attract new supporters. Perhaps they think Class of 92 and £££ will be enough. They'll reach the EFL eventually (probably next season) but it will peak when they reach our level in a way that Fleetwood have done, and it'll take bucketloads of money just to tread water. I doubt the enthusiasm will be there then.

You could probably say the same about AFC Fylde.
The same area now has to support themselves, Blackpool and Fleetwood.
A lot of their fans at the moment may be disillusioned Tangerines who might return to Bloomfield Road once all traces of the Oystons have gone.

It might have been mentioned already, but Michael Rose is at the Moss Rose.

My barber reckons that the outgoing players at Valley Parade are all Stuart McCall's favourites. They starved him of money so that he couldn't sign any more dross and once he had his henchmen had gone they opened the purse strings.

Calling fitzo, I’ve just noticed that League One Burton have signed David Templeton from Hamilton. Is that the same Templeton who was the next big thing at Hearts about 7 or 8 years ago?

Yep and before that I remember him making his debut at Stenhousemuir. A tremendous-looking prospect at the time.

He was on the verge of joining Liverpool from Hearts, but instead chose Rangers in the Third Division, got injured and his career never really recovered. He did okay at Hamilton last season. If fit, he should be more than good enough for League One.

First a thank you to Macro for the work put onto this thread.

Its sad that 3 of our ex players last season Keane Davis and Brown are still without clubs at this late stage of pre season. Has anybody got any information i.e. twitter about them?

This is not the time for bickering.

Davies was rumoured to be on trial at Tranmere early preseason
Keane could well be still injured

Ogrady at Latics and Dagnal at Bury some wanted them back here.

This is not the time for bickering.

After his release by Wigan there was some speculation about signing Donervan Daniels - but he seems not to have got fixed up anywhere.

I'd be interesting to know how much more Posh got for Jack Marriott than was paid when he was signed last summer.

Daniels was on trial at Walsall.

Rumours that derby paid anything between 3 and 6 million

Cameron Borthwick-Jackson- who looked a bloody good player and prospect for Man Utd under Van Gaal, has signed for SCUNTHORPE.
