Stoke Sign Rotherham Keeper 11:15 - May 20 with 1320 views | SaintNick | A lot of people seem to think we should have signed Viktor Johansson from Rotherham this summer as he is out of contract, but it seems Stoke have got in first

We can't. They're owned by the multi billionaire Coates family. Puts our multi millionaire owners to shame.

Bazunu ( who is a very poor goalkeeper in any event ) will not be fit for the start of the new season and McCarthy will be out of contract and we miss a golden opportunity. Utterly bizarre.

Baz needs to go out on loan when fir again. He not good enough - probably never will be. Hes to small. I genuinely think bringing back Mccarthy has saved the season.

Stoke Sign Rotherham Keeper on 12:27 - May 20 with 1168 views | PatfromPoole | It is a real shame. But I suspect he wasn't cut out for the sexy triangles in our penalty area. God knows why he has gone to Stoke though.

The problem we have at the moment is that until we know what division we are in it is hard to make signings, I would suspect that we would not have gone for him anyway if we had gone up to the Premier League

Goalkeepers are usually at their best in their 30s but I'm not sure buying a player that age suits our recruitment policy, which is why we ended up with an expensive, unproven youngster like Bazunu. Our best years came when McMenemy bought Shilton in his 30s and, of course Pompey had their best spell in the modern era when they got David James in his 30s, and he was absolutely brilliant for them. One I wanted us to buy was the Finnish goalkeeper, Hradecky, who this year, at the age of 34, has reached his absolute peak for Bayer Leverkusen. [Post edited 20 May 14:32]

We are only about the 10th richest Club in the Championship, by ownership, and by a considerable distance from the likes of the Coates family at Stoke. Very good signing for them, they have done exactly the right thing as whoever loses the PO final could have done a lot worse than snap Viktor up - could make a good case for both Leeds and for us, whoever gets left on the shore as the PL party boat sails away. Have to agree with another post that McCarthy has probably saved our end of season, so far, and may that continue at Wembley! Sammy Szmodics @ Blackburn will be the next to be snapped up….

I don't think in this case the division would have mattered Nick as at worst we remain in the championship - the same as Stoke City and we are a better prospect than Rotherham and I would say Stoke as well - and he could have ended up in the PL. But, you are probably right, it was never likely to happen.
