| Forum Thread | Danny Ings at 08:52 5 Feb 2025
I would have had him back in the transfer window, perhaps he will be back in the summer when his contract is up. Interesting fact. In his last season for Saints Ings played 29 Premier League games and scored 12 goals, in the 3 1/2 years since he has left St Mary's he has played 99 Premier League games and scored just 17 goals. Of that total in the 2 years he has been at West Ham he has only started 11 Premier League games plus 40 as a sub and scored just 4 goals in the Premier League |
| Forum Thread | 10 Greatest Players In Saints History Ranked at 08:28 5 Feb 2025
I read this on the internet, what does everyone think. 1. Matt Le Tissier 2. Peter Shilton 3. Alan Ball 4.Ron Davies 5. Mick Channon 6.Terry Paine 7. Rickie Lambert 8.Virgil Van Dijk 9.Alan Shearer 10. Kevin Keegan In fairness the top 10 isn't too bad, but putting Alan Ball above Mick Channon, Ron Davies & Terry Paine is not right, those 3 alongside Le Tiss are probably our greatest ever players in terms of both talent & contribution for the club, after those four its all a bit less clear. On the rems of both talent and contribution to the club you can't argue with most of them, the only one I would dispute is Virgil Van Dijk, for the short time he was at the club he was probably one of, if not The best Central defender that we have ever had , but in his 3 seasons at the club (effectively 2 because of his injury) he played just 67 League games, so from that perspective he doesn't fit the bill, Mark Wright & Chris Nicholl would be in my top 10 before him, Van Dijk most will grudgingly admit is a quality player but not a Saints legend https://www.givemesport.com/greatest-southampton-players-in-football-history/ |

The player didnt end up going to Parma in the end, apparently Strasbourg mucked around with the paperwork, looks like we got lucky there |
| Forum Thread | Burnley Game at 23:27 3 Feb 2025
Seems about 10,000 tickets sold in the home sections so far, I can't see Burnley bring ing more than 1,000 down, so a late surge needed. |

Personally I would be disappointed to see him go, maybe he is not a Premier League striker, but still a good squad player and we need him next season |

| Forum Thread | 5 Things About Ipswich at 14:28 3 Feb 2025
1. It has a quayside and marina, very nice it was too, a pleasant place to have a drink pre match, about a 15 minute walk from the football ground. 2. Ipswich fans seem all very nice people, there wasn't the vindictive nasty chanting we heard at the likes of Forest and United etc recently. 3. Ipswich has got to be one of the easiest grounds to get to by train, the main station is about 5 mins walk from the ground. 4. The away pub is right opposite the station, home fans only and a massive place, albeit the drinks were a bit overpriced. 5. Portman Road is still a bit of an old school ground, the two side stands are fairly old, the stands behind the goal a bit newer, but all seperate stands and not a bowl or semi bowl |

Good from the point of view we wont be wasting good money on players that we dont need this season, but bad news in that i would rather have seen us get £8-10 million a piece ofr KWP, Tall Paul & Sulemana |

I was having this conversation yesterday and I think most football clubs have a famous or semi famous fan in the music business , the Premier League is easy so lets start with the Championship Watford - Elton John Sheffield united - Paul Heaton

| Forum Thread | Pubs Near Premier League Football Clubs at 08:36 25 Jan 2025
We are ranked 16th with 4, but whoever is doing the counting has missed a few, the article says the nearest is the Chapel Arms 0-4 miles away, but google maps has it at 0.3 and that is from the Ted Bates statue. The nearest is probably the reopened Engineers arms, there is also the Prince of Wales, then there is Browns on the corner of William Street near Shamrock Quay and also the bar at Shamrock Quay. The Kingsland Tavern is also well below the mile mark. At 0-9 miles is Yates on the High street and that is from the Ted Bates statue, so is nearer than that from the Northam End and if that is the case there will be another 6-8 pubs or so next to Yates who qualify. The Grapes in Oxford street is 0-9 miles so that brings into play at least 4 other pubs as is Canute Road & Ocean Village so maybe 3 down there The Alexandra is also 0.9 miles and the Cricketers is 1-1 from the Ted Bates statue, so would be under a mile from the Northam/Kingsland corner, so perhaps another 3 or 4 pubs in London road and Carlton crescent. as well as The Lion in Bedford Place. Applying the nearest point of st Mary's stadium would also bring in to play the likes of the Red Lion & standing order on the high street and perhaps the Platform Tavern So I would say that there are at least 30 pubs within range of 1 mile from St Mary's, this would take Southampton into the top 4 clubs, but probably the rest of the list is as badly researched as we were. https://www.givemesport.com/premier-league-clubs-pubs/?link_source=ta_first_comm |
