We are definitely less likely to lose with him at CB and in this team. He is an old head on young shoulders. Speaks really well and feels like he is a leader and future captain here.
We either fly on momentum or die from a lack of it. There's nothing in between and it's a syndrome that has dogged Marti and many others before him now. So I am starting to think that somehow, over the last 10 years it has somehow become institutionalized here. These extreme fluctuations just get handed down.
I looked at the available team sheet and my heart sank to be honest. There was no way to win a game with a team with no senior striker. Hopefully we muddle through a get to 50+ points and stay up (something that we seemed to be so far ahead of a month ago) but hopefully if we do stay up (can't believe I'm even saying that) then for God sake let's actually work on getting a few senior strikers on the books that aren't going to break down every 5 minutes. You need 4 proper strikers and I have to say that if Kelman is doing so well we have to give the guy a chance, but we also need to have a few forwards that have senior experience at this level and concentrate on getting strikers in the building for next season. Staggering that we are 7 games off the end of the season and we only have a half fit Lloyd to actually play up front.
I think Marti is a bit generous to Koki on the red. Sadly it was and Koki knew it was the moment he landed it. Shame as I really like him but that could be a 3 game ban sadly. At least Dembele is back.
Otherwise, I think he was disappointed we couldn't hold on to win it but also but more pleased with a team putting in a shift at last and also with so many injuries. 2 weeks to get some of this team back!
Great goals from us. Their first goal looked fine to me. Can't see an offside. Second goal is unfortunate but I thought we had some good chances and didn't let our heads dropped.
Koki knew it was a red immediately. Didn't really need to do it but a real shame. No complaints.
Overall though I thought we did much better today and they played like they cared.
I do like when he says that he wants the fans to come angry and disappointed. I am sure they can and stay that way into the evening tomorrow. I know what he meant but it is funny.
Otherwise, he's optimistic as always but also realistic. I like that he doesn't get too low or too high so let's just hope for one of those miracle QPR games tomorrow where armed with half a team, Jude the cat up front and perhaps a raffle for several season ticket holders to play as the holding midfield duo that we actually get an unlikely win out of this one. God we need it!
It comes to something when Jimmy, Cook and Nardi are your front 3.
A friend of mine was up there and just said our ability to give the ball away when actually breaking away and put ourselves back into trouble was something to behold tonight.
Blimey if that is a penalty you should be giving 3 or 4 a game. He runs across Colback. Someone dragging a player to the ground is a foul. Someone running across your legs, whose not even part of the passage of play on an unintentional collision is stretching the fabric. I think I would have said the same had it been a penalty to us. I think, as much as I hate it, that VAR would have seen that as a clear and obvious error. Difficult to know if the Furlong elbow was intentional on a TV replay? We really should have got a point out of this.
