Sheffield Utd probably won't even go up , so all this talk of premiership football is all a bit previous.

the top 3 will be going mad signing players over the next week so it wouldn't surprise me and as much as I'd love Dunne to stay if they are mad enough to pay 2million for him we have to consider it

Accidentally down voted when meant to upvote Lblock.

Fingers and thumbs or early senility.

Jimmy Dunne is the heart beat of this team. He literally bleeds blue and white hoops.

Agreed we are in the modern age of football, but Dunne is never going to fetch £2 million anyhow. Maximum £750k but that's not enough. He is such an important player here. Gives it everything every single moment. Is a threat and effective in both areas. Has added scoring and assisting to his game. Is hard to pass and he can adapt so if we change tactics to a back three, he can play either role.

So adaptable, a goal threat, a presence in defence, a man that can assist and works well with the men in front of him and a future captain and in a few years will be the senior pro that can help the younger players in the first team and a man that knows the club inside out.

So his value to us is on many many different levels and if some idiot decides to get rid too soon, there would be repercussions. A lot of fans would not accept such a stupid decision and could quickly lead to a decline.

Dunne is that important for us now. It's not happening though. Otherwise I will eat my hat !!!

He doesn't 'literally' bleed blue and white hoops (or blue and white anything) - I see you've been following the Jamie Redknapp school of footballing semantics. But your point is splendidly made: Dunne is far more valuable to QPR than whatever we could get for him.

Poll: Keep our 12 game pts return going, and it's a 73 pt finish! Playoffs?

He probably doesn't literally bleed blue and white hoops, that would be a medical implausibility.

Implausible, but not impossible - like what you've done there - so there is a chance.

We need to get him to a phlebotomist before this deal goes through.

I would be very sad to see Jimmy go but it appears there is every chance. £2m or not, what would worry me is what happens at right back without him. When Dunne isn't there, we have been so poor down that side.

You do wonder why the club doesn't simply tell us what is actually going on, good, bad or indifferent?

That would be Nourry, bosh.

I feel a tad sick….

Just dawned on me that if Sir James goes the alternative is Ashby for the rest of the season.
I do hope the club realise it’s not impossible for clubs to freefall at this stage of the game a lah Birmingham etc

Christ…. I might even rob a bank, give the club £2mill, buy him myself and loan him back to the club for 3 years

NOURRY SORT IT OUT YOUNG MAN

Without wishing to give any credence whatsoever to FLW...Jimmy, as far as we know, hasn't re-signed, so still a debate worth having.

One thing that has been stuck in the back of my mind...Jimmy at RB last season was part of Marti's Emergency Pragmatic Surgery approach.

Of course MC started this season hoping to be a little truer to his principles...and am I dreaming it, or was their a quote along the lines of JD not being a shoo-in for right back?

Marti may have reverted (once again successfully) to Emergency Pragmatism - the Sequel!...with Jimmy again playing a starring role, partly as the two RBs who were brought have been pants. But if I was the Irish Cafu, in the back of my head would be: will I be first choice here next season, if Marti gets a squad a little more capable of playing his preferred style...

I think this is the most compelling argument however I think that the club should be resigning him with a view to him being replaced at right back and forming part of the long term center back partnership possibly with Morrison.

He's shown he is solid at CB in the championship recently while covering for injuries. He is great in the air which is something we need at CB and set pieces. He has a great attitude and comes across as a big part of the team ethic that's improved our season. We have Cook and Fox who are getting on and JCS and Morrison who seem to be injury prone, so if we let him go we're going to need a RB and CB.

Anyway, they should be doing everything they can to keep him.

Hey.

It might just have been what's commonly known as metaphorically speaking.🙃

A big word i learnt at school.🫣

And being likened to Jamie Redknapp. Crikey. Slightly better than to his dad but not much !!!🤕

Well, if he did sign some time ago but it’s been embargoed, we are certainly falling into the trap of getting het up about it to the point we’ll revere anyone who got it over the line.

Genius PR really, if true.

Need to keep him until at least the summer. He causes chaos from set pieces and is always the target. The number of goals we score will decrease dramatically without him. You can also see his leadership on the pitch, hard to replace those kind of qualities, especially with such a young squad.

He'd be a massive loss for this season and I really hope it doesn't happen but thats a lot of money and unlikely to get that sort of offer again if it's even remotely true

He's not going anywhere. I have it on good authority (AKA an ITK poster on RFI*) that a new contract has been agreed.

Yes, leadership on the pitch. I remember a moment at Hull when we were under a bit of pressure in stoppage time, clinging on to our 2-1 lead. Alfie Lloyd got hold of the ball from a long clearance and, with no support, managed to hold on to it and then drew the free kick. Jimmy Dunne ran forward and screamed his appreciation in Alfie's face. You can't buy that.

I’m going to say it again because it’s so astonishing.

Jimmy Dunne has had 50% more touches than ANY other player in our team this season. 1600 compared with 1200 for the next most (Cookie). So much of our attacking play goes through him.

Should the results reveal that he does indeed bleed blue and white hoops we’ll be able to sell him off for medical research for considerably more than any two bit Championship side can afford.

This could pay for 3 more Ashbys.
