| Forum Thread | The Game Podcast at 16:18 1 Mar 2024
Following on from the very nice article by Martin Samuel that appeared in last Suday's Times, which I highlighted in another thread, Martin talks about Stan at length in yesterday's edition of the Game Podcast It starts at around 32 mins and finishes at 42.30. He is very complimentary about Stan, the 75/76 team which finished second to Liverpool, and also references the Michael Nyman concerto "Final Score" about Stan and our great team. Well worth a listen. |
| Forum Thread | Totally Football Show Podcast with James Richardson at 16:03 26 Feb 2024
I listened to this podcast this morning. Not one mention of the passing of our Stan! I have posted the following on the Totally Football Show feed on X "Regular listener to the pod. Very disappointed that you could not spare a couple of minutes to mention the sad passing of Stan Bowles an icon of the 70s and one of the most skilful and entertaining players to grace the game. Why was this?" I do not expect to receive any response! " |
| Forum Thread | Ainsworth ranked last on The Second Tier Podcast. at 19:04 13 Jul 2023
The Second Tier podcast (which I listen to regularly) have just posted a new episode today where they look at all the 24 managers in the Championship and rank them in order of how much they would want them in charge of their football club. Today's episode covers the managers from 13 to 24th. You may be surprised (or not!) to find out that they rank our Gareth at bottom of the pile. I f you want to listen, he is the first they talk about. And they are not very complimentary! I normally find the two guy's who host the podcast, Ryan Dilks and Justin Peach as very knowledgeable and fair. Would be interested to hear others thoughts after they have listened. It will only take up 10 minutes of your time to listen to the Gareth section. |
| Forum Thread | Harry Redknapp on the latest W12 Podcast at 18:31 20 Feb 2022
I was never very keen on Harry as our manager when he managed Rangers, but I was surprised that he came over very well in this podcast. He had interesting things to say about Adel, acknowledging his great talent but bemoaning the fact that he did not keep himself fit enough, and comparing him to DiCano who he said was a great trainer. He was very complementary about Tony Fernandes, but did say that Tony allowed certain players (which he wouldn’t name) to express their views to him on tactics and selection. (Something, which clearly shouldn’t ever happen). It is a very interesting listen. Highly recommended. |
| Forum Thread | Such sad news. Rest in peace Glen at 12:55 8 Feb 2022
One of our greatest captains and most talented defenders dies from a brain tumour. Died far too young. |
| Forum Thread | Why was Dickie not one of the penalty takers? at 19:12 22 Sep 2021
All our penalty takers did great, but I was very surprised that Dickie did not take one, considering the great goals he he has scored this season. I would have thought he would have been chosen ahead of a young player like Duke Mackenna, and especially Luke Amos, considering it was his first game for the first team since his injury. In his interview on the website Luke admitted he hadn't even practiced taking a penalty before the game! In the circumstances It just seemed strange. |
| Forum Thread | Rowan Vine at 17:27 16 Nov 2020
Very interesting interview by Rowan Vine on the latest Second Tier Podcast which was uploaded yesterday (Sunday). He goes into great detail about his time at QPR, and in particular about the circumstances surrounding his injury in 2008 during an open training session. He alleges his injury was deliberately caused by our third choice goalkeeper at the time, the American Matt Pickens. He goes into great detail above how he was ostracised by the Club after he sued them for damages. The case was settled out of court, but he is very critical of certain unnamed persons at Rangers, (although he does name Neil Warnock, who he says treated him very badly.) I know lots of supporters have little time for Vine, but I would ask you to listen to the podcast before criticising him. Personally, he did not come across as someone I warm to but it was interesting to hear what he had to say. |
| Forum Thread | Jamie Reuben resigns as QPR director at 21:12 23 Oct 2020
Does anyone have any info regarding this? Speculation in Newcastle that he left us to support a takeover bid for the Magpies. Apparently his resignation came out of the blue. |
| Forum Thread | Who is having a laugh?,!! at 19:20 22 Oct 2017
For the second week in a row Mackie is currently topping the Player Ratings on this website with a mark of 9.1 when all the other players have marks under 4! Mackie came top of the rankings last week too. Some people are not taking these ratings seriously!!! |
| Forum Thread | Why was Sandro not involved today.? at 23:59 30 Oct 2015
Ramsey said in his pre game press conference that he had almost a full squad to pick from, and on Access All R's on Thursday when the medical chap was talking about the players with injuries, no mention was made of Sandro. So why was he not picked today, or at least have been on the bench? Does anyone have any idea why he was not included in the squad, when no one in the club has said he is still injured? Surely if fit he should be playing, or has he been left out for other reasons? |
| Forum Thread | Steve Black - is he actually contacted to QPR? at 11:50 26 May 2014
I noticed both at the home leg of the semi-final home leg against Wigan and the play-off final at Wembley, a well built guy with a white beard, wearing a red QPR track suit. I had no idea who he was, until I read a tweet by Joey Barton praising the motivational skills of Steve Black, a conditioning coach, whose background is I believe in rugby union. At the end of the game, after all the other players and other coaching staff had left the pitch, I saw that Joey came over to the opposite side of the pitch with the bearded guy and spent a few minutes celebrating with some fans in the stands on the halfway line. Can anyone confirm that the bearded guy was in fact Steve Black? From this link, www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/26866687, it would appear that Joey has been working one to one with Steve Black, and it would seem to me that if he is not already contracted to the Club, that they should take immediate steps to secure his services for next season so that the whole team can benefit from his skills. |
| Forum Thread | Benayoun - is he injured? at 15:59 11 May 2014
I was very surprised that Yossi did not make the team, or even the bench last Friday. There was no mention in the pre-game press conference that he was injured. So his omission was a great surprise to me, especially taking into account his recent performances. I am not taking anything away from Gary O'Neil, who I thought had one of his better games at Wigan. However, I feel that Benayoun offers much more offensively. Does anyone know if he will be available for Monday? |
| Forum Thread | Jenas - permanent deal or loan? at 14:41 1 Feb 2013
The Official Site and the press both report the deal to sign him as a permanent transfer on an 18 month contract. Why then in two separate interviews yesterday (one on the "Call In" programme) did Harry refer to both the Jenas and Townsend deals as being loans? |
