May be on my own here but I actually think Welbeck is one of England's best young players. The fact that Alex Ferguson chose to play Welbeck both home and away against Madrid would suggest he also thinks he can play.
Also bit of a long shot I know however am I right in thinking that there could be a chance of Rochdale getting yet more money from the Lambert deal if he was to play for England?

Got to say that his first appearance against Macclesfield after he signed for us from Stockport certainly gave no indication of the player he would become for us.
On that day it would have been fair to say that at best"he looked out of condition" and "a yard off the pace".No doubt that his career had gone backwards at an alarming rate whilst at County.To pay a reported fee of £25,000 as we did for a player who had commanded a fee of around ten times that when he moved to County says it all
Well done Rickie Lambert, I hope he scores 3 and plays a blinder just to give Hodgson a real problem when some of the others are fit and there is some serious opposition.
I do hope that Rooney, Gerrard and Lampard all leave all the free kick taking responsibilities to RL should any shooting opportunities come England's way.
