Bye bye bye Johnson on 21:27 - Jul 11 with 1910 views | colinallcars | So, the new PM to be announced Sept 5th. That's alright, take your time, nothing much going on after all. I think Penny Mourdant will get it, she's already PM.

I think they get that , they are getting from a dozen down to two in a week and using the recess to make the final choice . The process has been in place for years . They can only speed it up . PM is my choice , she is really good at the dispatch box , There is a great video of her handing Angela Rayner(who I like ) her own arse in a wicker basket.

I don’t think I can handle a Prime Minister that I both fancy and despise.

As one of the ministers who propped up and defended Johnson, Badenoch is as guilty as anyone for supporting the lies, chaos and incompetence of the current PM. She dismisses the notion of white privilege, is weak on racism and discrimination and doesn't want the facts about colonisation to be taught in schools.

I think that's a bit sensationalist, Phil. Like I say, I tend to avoid party politics like the plague, but I watched her leadership bid video and I thought she made a better case to be PM than anyone else I've seen, from any other party. Just my opinion, sorry if it is different to yours mate! [Post edited 12 Jul 2022 13:20]

So she's not your choice, Dave. Fair enough. But I think she's possibly in a better position than you to make those calls?

As are a quite large majority of the parliamentary party these days. The Tories at large in the country have been infiltrated and hijacked by former UKIP/EDL/BNP. They are their Militant Tendency. You only have to look at some of the 2019 intake; Anderson, Benton, Jenkinson, Gullis, Hunt, Clarke-Smith, Nici, Kruger, Stafford. All hard right and not an empathetic bone in their bodies between them. Jenkinson actually stood for UKIP in 2015 in the constituency he represents now (Workington). Whilst I didn't agree with the general politics of people like Ken Clarke, Michael Heseltine and John Major, they had redeeming qualities of decency and empathy. Their kind is a dying breed in the Tories these days. Clarke tends to lie low these days since retiring from the HoC but Heseltine and Major have both spoken out on the Tories' lurch rightward in the last few years under Johnson.

She wants to find more money for education by cutting extra-curricular activity in schools, i.e. the stuff that enable people to work later without additional childcare costs. She also wants to reduce support staff in schools - the teaching assistants who help children with learning difficulties, etc. That's an interesting way to support levelling -up.

Take a look at her commons voting record. Supports sending refugees to Rwanda, is against net zero, voted to save Owen Paterson, voted for all this government's hard authoritarian shit like voter suppression and clamping down on protest etc.

So true. I never have and never will vote Tory, but at least there used to be a wing of the party (sometimes even in a majority for a while) that had some kind of human face. As the current mob made f*ck up after f*ck up during the pandemic, all while lining their mates' pockets, I remember thinking, "John Major wouldn't have been a bad PM to have right now." As seen on the political discussions on this board (which I always find a good way to see outside the bubble I freely admit to being in), it's very much created a "whose side are you on?" divide which arguably all goes back to the Tories' ongoing inability to deal with Europe, and the subsequent hijacking of the party that followed on when they started leaking votes to Farage. It'll only change if their well-oiled election winning machine malfunctions. Look at those 11 contenders, talk about a rogues' gallery. [Post edited 12 Jul 2022 15:41]
