Hornets on Sunday 19:31 - Feb 24 with 292535 views | EllDale | They’re tweeting that their “matchday operations” are being restricted for the home game against Barrow on Sunday for reasons that they don’t want to divulge at the moment. The bottom line is that the crowd capacity is limited to 920 and there will be no cash admissions on the day. Wonder what that’s all about?

He claimed rugby fans know how to behave and then, six weeks later, didn't seem to think it included him, with a bizarre response to a post that wasn't anything to do with him in the first place. Now that is all what matters. The more money from the RL fans the better, all helps The Dale, or the AFC.

Beer prices are only going one way hammerdale. Further increases look likely too due to: * Barley costs soaring due to war in Ukraine. * Cost of electricity soaring - that's increased power the pumps. * Government has increase employers national insurance and the minimum wage - both of which get passed on to the consumer. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/business/2022/03/27/price-pint-soar-christmas-beer-b The way prices are going we all might be teetotal by Christmas.

I see you are still only selling tickets for the East of the Mainstand. Haven't you decided to pay for the whole stand to be open to get the bigger gate? Now you have had your loans repaid I am sure you can pay for the extra stewards etc |

Hornets have announced its ALL TICKET for the Oldham game for Hornets this weekend: https://www.hornetsrugbyleague.co.uk/article/1059/matchday-information-hornets-v There will be NO CASH turnstiles, and admission is only available via tickets. "the game could become sold out." If I remember correctly, our game vs Oldham was also an all ticket affair in September 2021 on police advice and there was no pay of the day option either: https://www.rochdaleafc.co.uk/news/2021/september/matchdayinformation_oldhamathl "Saturday is an all ticket match. There will be no pay on the day option." Let's hope that Hornets have a good plan in place for managing their advance ticket sales appropriately and have sent some in advance to the Vestacare Stadium for the Roughyeds . Hornets have also changed their stated policy for this game to say they are not serving food or drinks from the 1907 until 2.30pm, looks like they want the hospitality £ more than that of the average fan, so not letting them buy food or drink until 2.30pm only 30 minutes kick-off. The Cemetery Hotel is open before the game early at lunchtime on Friday and will be the calling point for supporters. They are doing a cracking Dale Ale with all profits from that particular beer going to the Dale Trust. [Post edited 11 Apr 2022 23:02]

To be fair Hornets have had no cash turnstiles all season so far - just as we have. Thats because they use the same ticketing system installed by the Bot. Their seaon ticket holders have no seat reservations though - just a bun fight for the 900 seats available. Bizzarely they seem to have made no change to the capacity of the mainstand for this game despite the expectation they could sell more than 900 tickets. The reason for the 2.30pm refreshments element is because the lounge is dealing with hospitality til then.....here are no kiosks open so anybody wanting to buy a drink or food has to go into the lounge to buy them. Tight squeeze in there then. If they only managed a gate of 415 on Sunday, and that includes the away fans from a well established Yorkshire club, the future isn't very bright. Are Hornets really down to 300 fans now? There must be relief that Paul Ormerod has writtenoff loans of over £200k.

I'd not thought of it like that. I suppose you are right; if there are say 300 Hornets fans then that leaves 620 spaces for floating and visiting supporters and first come first served. I do think that Good Friday is always a bad time to have a home game with so many other distractions and people away on holidays. For example there is an Easter Egg Hunt at Hollingworth Lake on Friday: https://www.yourtrustrochdale.co.uk/whats-on/events/family-easter-egg-paddle-hun Good affordable food and drink options here: https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/whats-on/family-kids-news/kids-eat-free- It all competes with a game of rugby which at £16 for adults is not inexpensive and when you are putting the hospitality crowd before attending fans I guess that is where the money is in rugby league these days.

How times change in 33 years EllDale. Not many Super League crowds get 8,000 for an attendance these days. Rugby League is dying out amongst communities other than die-hard supporters. The RFL have overseen that demise IMO with too much support for a closed shop Super League rather than promotion / relegation. Quite a few competing fixtures tomorrow - Oldham Athletic are at home to Northampton Town in a must win game, we are at Stevenage and there is a host of other activities on. If Hornets only have 100 tickets left that will be a good crowd for them for that level of rugby.

Except kel, its not opening until 2.30 to non-hospitality holders? As Rochdale Hornets announced earlier this week: https://www.hornetsrugbyleague.co.uk/article/1059/matchday-information-hornets-v "The 1907 lounge is available to all fans from 2.30pm for drinks, and counter service for food. " Less than 100 left? They better not turn up until 2.55pm

They've "SOLD OUT"
The oddest thing about Mazey is that he so pro-rugby League that his Twitter has Gary Neville and Nicky Butt on it. Didn't think Neville and Butt did rugby league as they are currently trying to turn the AJ Bell into a football ground!

He's a big Man United fan by all accounts. Also tried to rename the Swinton Lions the "Manchester Lions" in a failed rebrand which alienated supporters. The final straw before he packed in at Swinton apparently came when some disgruntled Swinton fans put a number of housebricks through the windscreen of his Range Rover. The aforementioned Range Rover was then nicked from an NCP car park in broad daylight:
As you'll see in the replies there was a lot of sympathy from Swinton fans.....

Perhaps that incident tells you more about the character of Swinton fans, as opposed to their former Chairman who was probably trying to get some stability to a nomadic club and whilst I agree you cant just dismiss 130 years of history it may well have changed the profile of the club.

I think he is in it to establish Hornets as a competitive Championship side, nothing wrong with that...he certainly isn't in it for the money..and I would agree that it was a mistake on his part to try and change Swintons history, still doesn't justify criminal acts against his property, as Rochdale have proved with Bottomley you can use legitimate ways to remove someone you feel is detrimental to your club.
