The Jenkins got us here lovers on 11:11 - Jan 2 by Landore_Jack | Is it true Jenkins did not follow the Swans before he became involved? I am sure I read that somewhere. |
He wasn't watching the Swans at the time of Tony Petty. FACT

This. And getting the seal of approval off the Tapas waiter should have set the alarm bells ringing http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/29879681 "Former Swansea City manager Roberto Martinez says supporters should trust chairman Huw Jenkins and the board over potential investment in the club."

The Jenkins got us here lovers on 11:30 - Jan 2 by Joe_bradshaw | Jenkins got us here by appointing and trusting managers like Martinez, Rodgers and Laudrup to establish then continue a style of playing football. Those managers brought in players who were not necessarily heralded elsewhere but suited our style. They were not big money signings, they were pieces of a jigsaw that made up a very attractive picture. Many of those players struggled when they left us because they didn't suit their new team's style as well as ours. When Laudrup lost some of his motivation as he tends to after a while, Jenkins decided to install Monk and dismantle the system that had served us so well. Monk didn't have the vision of his predecessors or the contacts in the game. Jenkins thought he and a couple of scouts could oversee player acquisition. They couldn't and as everything quietly unraveled the shareholders decided to cash in as quickly as possible. They got decent money for Ash and Ayew which also got high earners off the books so the club looked financially more attractive. Cheap and poor replacements were brought in and where money was spent it was wasted as has been the case since Laudrup and his mate left. Jenkins succeeded by trusting others then failed by trusting himself. |
Spot on post, covered everything. We played football that we were envied for, fast one touch, movement off of the ball, players wanting to be involved. That was then, It took Monk a season and bit to confuse, dismantle and wipe out the football we were becoming famed for. Poor vision after Laudrup by HJ and the board has helped speed the process. I just hope by some miracle, even if it's in the Championship, we can get back to The Swansea way of playing, it will need a clear out and a while to rebuild.

He was at some games because I stood next to him and a few others of the time on several occasions on the NB. [Post edited 3 Jan 2017 2:20]

Last sentence ...... ‘Jenkins succeeded by trusting others then failed by trusting himself’ .... A very interesting quote this I just dug up from 12 months ago by none other than the recently appointed Chairman of the Trust Alan Lewis. Yet the Trust through Cath Dyer last night state that we should ‘Trust the Board’ in the decision to sack Clement .....absolutely unbelievable !! As well as the farce with continuing to push through the sale of the Trust’s shares despite the clear absence of any form of ‘WORKING RELATIONSHIP OR MUTUAL TRUST’ existing between the parties involved. The whole thing stinks OUR Club is rotten and corrupt to it’s core.....very, very sad times indeed.
