And that's just the species we've discovered. At an estimate there are thousands of others in the dense jungles we've not come across yet as they're unexplored.

And what stopped lions for instance eating the gazelle?

Anyone ever thought.. let the Jehovah's in.. run upstairs.. put a devil costume on.. get a fake sheep's head with blood.. run downstairs and shout the messiah has arrived.. what would the response be?

I steer as far away from religion as I possibly can, but I don't see the point of sites like that.

You have rightly pointed that you don't have to have religion to have morals but religion gives a direction for very many people and they live their lives peacefully by it.

The flood story and lots of other stories from the Old Testament are just rip offs of the Epic of Gilgamesh so really Christians should be worshiping Gilgamesh as well as god and Jeebus.

Lots of bible stories pop up in ancient religions. For example, there are records of a great flood in a number of them. Think the plagues of Egypt make an appearance in a few of them too.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

Yep, the virgin birth is another one that pops up in lots of ancient religions as well. The bible should be known as the greatest piece of plagiarism ever.

The positives of living your life as a good person for yourself and your family, to the best you possibly can, far outweighs that of any (artificial) positives provided by religion.

Just saying in response to an earlier claim.

I suppose they had separate cages for wild predators to stop them eating other animals.

The marine animals like whales etc could swim in the sea.

The King James Bible is where the English language finds its apogee. It doesn't matter one iota what the irreligious have to say, it makes no difference how loud or shrill those objections are trumpeted, that collection of parables and apologues will continue to inspire and endue for another two thousand years.

An idea isn't responsible for those who believe in it.

You shall have no other Gods but me.
You shall not make for yourself any idol, nor bow down to it or worship it.
You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God.
You shall remember and keep the Sabbath day holy.
Respect your father and mother.
You must not kill.
You must not commit adultery.
You must not steal.
You must not give false evidence against your neighbour.
You must not be envious of your neighbour's goods. You shall not be envious of his house nor his wife, nor anything that belongs to your neighbour.

When you look at that it's not a bad way to live your life. I for one wish Sunday's were a family day again, not just another shopping day and the rest speak for themselves, bar the first 3.

And these aren't too bad either -

Lust — to have an intense desire or need: “But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart” (Matthew 5:28).

Gluttony — excess in eating and drinking: “for drunkards and gluttons become poor, and drowsiness clothes them in rags” (Proverbs 23:21).

Greed - excessive or reprehensible acquisitiveness: “Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, with a continual lust for more” (Ephesians 4:19).

Laziness — disinclined to activity or exertion: not energetic or vigorous: “The way of the sluggard is blocked with thorns, but the path of the upright is a highway” (Proverbs 15:19).

Wrath — strong vengeful anger or indignation: “A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger” (Proverbs 15:1)

Envy — painful or resentful awareness of an advantage enjoyed by another joined with a desire to possess the same advantage: “Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind. Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation” (1 Peter 2:1-2).

Pride - quality or state of being proud — inordinate self esteem: “Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall” (Proverbs 16:18).

Unfortunately, for many, shopping has become a new religion. Primark and Next are the churches with people worshipping labels such as Hollister and the like. Meanwhile families break up because corporations abuse the need for the same people to earn a living and are not at home to give direction for the little ones.

The first four commandments are totally irrelevant and just show that god is pretty pathetic as far as deities go and has a pretty warped sense of morality that he makes worshiping him the number one rule while not killing only sneaks in at number six and not stealing at number eight and they are the only two commandments worth being carved into a stone tablet. The other four could just as easily be summed up into one 'don't be a dick' commandment.

Also, another one where he summed up the ten commandments into one command...."Thou shalt not be a dick". Was just wondering.
