It's the green green grass of the Moss Rose on Saturday when Macclesfield Town welcome Shrewsbury Town. Referee Mark Haywood has been given the honour of reffing the first home game of the season for the Silkmen.

Mr Haywood comes from West Yorkshire and is married with four daughters. He started his referee career in 1993 and worked his way up the leagues until he was promoted to the list of assistant ref's in 2002.

In 2006 he was promoted to the National list of referees and started out in League 2.

In the past he has ref'd 5 Macclesfield Town games including Macc's 2-0 win over Premiership new boys Blackpool in the 2006 Carling Cup. That game saw him show Terry Dunfield a red card.

He will be assisted by C Kavanagh and M Salisbury with the fourth official P C Wright.

We hope he has a good game and lets it flow!
