Getting Edwards in straight away - now that's great work !! 16:37 - Jan 18 with 3633 viewsnumptydumpty

It's been a pleasure to see so many aspects of our club going so well in the last couple of months but to be so quick off the mark to get in a quality centre back in so quickly - ahead of many rivals was superb work.

Edwards is highly thought of and when quick fire injuries to two key centre backs, we cover ourselves getting in Edwards immediately.

He was very assured today.

Well done Rangers - what is all this good news about !!!

Can't take much more of this..... 🙃

Played well today, perhaps picking him at Leicester was a very wise move by MC & not a poor decision like many on this very MB was complaining about!!!!!

My only criticism of him is his holding (for a prolonged time) of his opponent’s shirt at set pieces.

Jeez

Yes am very aware of that

Just saying it's a great loan in, considering our sudden injury woes in this area.

Loans are part of the game. He could have gone to one of our rivals.

As proven last season with Hayden making a massive difference.

But crack on, make a negative out of something.

Currently there are no reasons to be negative but well done you found a way !!@

Maybe but Liam Morrison is ours as is Steve Cook, so when both fit we are so strong on right side.

Thought he did ok but more than anything he's hit the ground running which is just what we needed.

The first glimpses we had of him I wasn’t impressed

Today he blew that out of the water.

Looked really really assured, calm and composed.
Think I saw he was £3mill? Way beyond us which is a shame as he does look like might have a bit about him and will get better as he matures

As noted - absolute props to the club for getting him in early.

Not ours. Cook and Fox highly likely being released in the summer which leaves us Morrison and JCS.

Hate loans as it gives a false sense of security.

We would without a doubt be in League 1 in any of the previous 4 season except for excellent loan signings in January. Stop being so narrow minded and learn to enjoy any decent performance in a QPR shirt- goodness knows they have been thin on the ground

Nakhi Wells was a loan for 18 months.

Routledge added to our championship title whilst on loan.

Hayden was the key missing link in our survival last season.

Jamal Lowe on loan set up Chris Martin five month contract to get our crucial win away at Burnley that was key in saving us from relegation that season.

Field , De Wijjs, Johansen and Austin created a real passion back to the club at back end of one season so much so we bought them all the next season.

Adel Taraabt was initially on loan.

We needed Edwards as we could have had lesser players in the middle and at full back ie Ashby and with JCS always injured and Cook possibly out for long term why would you turn your nose up at a loan that's going to help us keep progressing the run.

It was good business and necessary.

We couldn't have got a buy in as it's unnecessary if all our players fit.

You living in a world where loans weren't part of the game !!

If unlikely we got to play offs and somehow got through think Edwards would prefer yo stay with us. That's extremely unlikely.

But blooming heck if you can't be positive about all things QPR right now , you are going to get zero joy out of our club.

I hope once Morrison is match fit he replaces Edwards though. I want Morrison to develop more than Edwards. Morrison is ours.

It's also great news that, according to Marti's culture-busting update, Morrisson is 'days rather than weeks' away, and I think someone said he's said Cook should be back in contention sooner rather than later to boot - can anyone reconfirm? What with Celar and Dembele hopefully seeing light at the end of the tunnel, things really seem to be cooking (pun intended), competition-wise, going into the second half of the season.

Oh 100% mate, Morrison looks quality, Edwards as the OP suggested has been a cracking bit of business however to keep this upward trend progressing.

I think he had a good game yesterday but there wasn’t much to worry about compared to other teams and playing next to Dunne and Fox helped him.

Let’s see what he can do against a decent attack and press in the coming games.

Exactly, he obviously played well but that is one of the worst home teams I have ever seen.

He was awful at Leicester. Let's not get carried away.

As for someone earlier saying it was worth throwing the cup game for him to get some minutes - words fail me. Not to rehash old arguments, but why can't we try and win all the games? He's not even ours!

Delighted we won at Plymouth, still adore Marti, but still not happy at not trying our utmost in the cup.

You can just as easily argue we would have won yesterday anyway if we had rested players against them and gone full bore in the cup.

I don't get some of the thinking on here about this specific loan.

Of course a permanent signing is better, and saves money in the long term, but if half your defence get injured simultaneously you need a quick solution which you can afford on your immediate budget.

And if the reason you've loaned a player in is because you bloody need one right now, it means you play him right now.

Or do we think the club's response to Morrison's injury should have been to wait a few weeks, maybe hope JCS would be back soon and fit to play 90 minutes?

Me neither.

One of the issues about our recent injuries has been we've had to rush people back too quickly, like Morrison, or overplay them, like Cook, Dunne and Smyth. Having Edwards in means we can ease people back.

I suspect we could use him as a makeshift player in other positions, like fullback or DM if desperate. I'm also speculating that it's cheaper to loan people in January than August and that Southampton wanted him to get experience in the Championship where he'll probably be playing for them next season.
