A very Merry Christmas and a Happy and peaceful New Year to all boarders.
The U’s can make it 10 games unbeaten today at home to the Gills.
Our recent run of 6 successive clean sheets is the first time we have achieved this since the 1991-92 season under Roy McDonough.
Incredible stats, but they mean nothing unless we can keep the advancement up the table going.
Mark Bonner brings his Gillingham side to the JCS with them sitting in 10th position with 30 points from 20 games.
DC has the U’s in 17th position with 23 points from their 20 games.
Our last six games in all competitions W D W W D D
The weather today at the JCS will be 8 degrees Celsius with light cloud, light wind and 0% precipitation. Ideal for football.
A big crowd expected – possibly 6,500.
The game is also televised live on Sky Sports + at 3pm
Now a gentle reminder that my prediction this season was a top seven finish and that remains the aim. In order to achieve it the U’s must be looking for 75 points meaning another 52 points from their last 26 games (two points per game is promotion form!)
Anyway, let’s not get ahead of ourselves (come on it’s Christmas, a time for miracles). With four games in quicks succession; today, then Doncaster Home on Sunday 29th, Swindon Away on New Years Day and then Accrington Stanley at home on Saturday 4 January the squad must be employed but DC will want the unbeaten run to continue.
Today Flanagan and Egbo are back, Samson Tovide is doubtful as a starter but otherwise apart from Milton Oni we are virtually at full strength.
So, team
Macey
Egbo Flanagan Donnelly Iandolo
Payne McDonnell Read
Thorn Taylor Edwards
Subs Smith, Kells Bishop Gordon Tovide Anderson Goodliffe
A strong team performance and a 2-0 home win will not only send the faithful home content but also keep the unbeaten run going and prepares us for the tough Doncaster game.
Enjoy the game.

What sort of prat is Cowley? Didn't look like penalty and not much from the U's players but Danny Cowley, 60 yards away manages to get himself a yellow card. He really should sit in the stands.. So far so good although we should be further ahead than one goal. More this half please.

Hi Gerry
Payne should have just doubled our lead.
DC is the ultimate showman hence the penalty appeal.

Terrific result. We usually underwhelm completely in Boxing Day. Congratulations to all concerned, a real possibility that the sick worm might be turning!!
What concerns me now is how they'll react when inevitably they do concede. Psychologically that might be best if it happened with us two or three goals up! I'd take that on my birthday on Sunday v Doncaster!!!
Upwards the repairing U's.

A very good point about conceding next time and how the team react. Given that the overwhelming majority of our squad hadn't been born in 1991 this is somewhat of a novelty for them.
I am particularly pleased for Macey who looks very much at home between the sticks.
Let us hope that we can keep the clean sheets going.
Last season Donny Rovers caned us at home.
However they lost to the league leaders today. I think we can keep the run going on Sunday.

Out the blocks early, which resulted in us getting a lead. Played very well first half . Played a much more composed second half. Finally get a regulation goal in each half two nil home win. Another great squad performance with some excellent keeping by Macey.
Definitely onwards and upwards playing like this .

You are right about Macey. A much better keeper than Goodman. And I think he's improving with his distribution. The tip over the bar in the second half was one of the best I've seen at any level this season.
