Was Prestons goal totally against the morals of the game 19:12 - Dec 21 with 5822 views | numptydumpty | On some occasions would the team that scored such a goal, realise it was a mistake and allow an equaliser. Or even the attacker to stop playing. To me it was borderline cheating. I would have felt uncomfortable if we had scored it without opposition.

Was Prestons goal totally against the morals of the game on 19:17 - Dec 21 with 3870 views | hantssi | Not cheating at all, play to the whistle. Who’s to say if the injury is serious or not, you just don’t know in real time. I’d be very disappointed if it was the other way and we didn’t take it on and score, after all it’s a professional sport not park football.

Yes can agree to a certain extent Just added to the nonsense though that reaks from the Preston North End players !! I would have felt slightly uncomfortable if we had scored such a goal. But get your comment re it's a professional game. Just a gutting goal to concede.

Was Prestons goal totally against the morals of the game on 19:33 - Dec 21 with 3634 views | queensparker | Not at all. Play to the whistle. Horrible luck for Cook but as a forward you slot that in
Was Prestons goal totally against the morals of the game on 19:49 - Dec 21 with 3482 views | kernowhoop | It was correct to play on. Players today feign injury so often that an attacking player might have assumed that there was nothing wrong with Steve Cook. Perhaps there should be a weekly TV programme featuring the players who had fallen clutching their heads, when the head had not been touched and the others who cry out and fall around when they get the slightest knock (or even no knock at all). | | | | Login to get fewer ads
Was Prestons goal totally against the morals of the game on 19:51 - Dec 21 with 3449 views | saxbend | The simple answer is no. It's for the ref to decide whether or not to stop play. That said, I'm sure we can each think of a different occasion where a PNE player has successfully defended an attack by going down and feigning an injury. Perhaps that's what made you wonder.
Was Prestons goal totally against the morals of the game on 19:52 - Dec 21 with 3413 views | DWQPR | I had no problem with it. Just one of those things that happens. We benefitted a few years back against Sheff U when there keeper jumped above his own centre back with nobody near them, fell over the top and dropped the ball on the floor for our forward to walk the ball in the net.

Was Prestons goal totally against the morals of the game on 19:54 - Dec 21 with 3384 views | ChrisNW6 | Just wish Cook had gone down when he felt the first twinge when he motioned to the bench. He knew 30secs before the goal, he had a problem and the bench should have been urging the players to get the ball to touch. No critism of Cook as he is a real pro.

Wasn't it v Preston a few years back, when we scored at the Loft end and one of their defenders threw himself into the net and started rolling about holding his head. What a plonqueur.
Was Prestons goal totally against the morals of the game on 21:03 - Dec 21 with 2961 views | stainrods_elbow | I noticed Field was having a right old chin wag with the ref after it, and there was a bit of pushing and shoving with some of their players. Would love to know what was said, but that's about as likely in an Offish interview as my stepping out to the pictures with Ariana Grande.

Was Prestons goal totally against the morals of the game on 21:07 - Dec 21 with 2964 views | slmrstid | It was obvious straight away Cook was in a lot of pain. That said, I think if it had occurred in a community amateur game I'd be pretty pissed at poor sportsmanship. This is the professional elite game though where its dog eat dog and win or go home so... I get it. Sam Field wasn't very happy about it though.
Was Prestons goal totally against the morals of the game on 21:07 - Dec 21 with 2956 views | QPunkR | Agreed with everyone else here, no issue with them taking the opportunity to score the goal, it was just bad luck. Nothing against the spirit of the game. I was gutted when it went in but more with the fact it was an obvious bad injury to Cook

Was Prestons goal totally against the morals of the game on 22:32 - Dec 21 with 2552 views | HAYESBOY | No problem with the striker going on to score. What irked me was the celebration as though they had cut us open. In particular Greenwood. At least the scorer ran over to Cook to see how he was after he could see he was badly injured. Pi55ed me off no end though.

Jeez I must be a very old guy steeped in the ethics of the Corinthian Casuals but I was half expecting PNE to let us walk in an equaliser from the re-start. If I was a manager I would have instructed my team to do so. Justice was done in the end. Was one of the best games I've seen at Loftus Road in years.
Was Prestons goal totally against the morals of the game on 23:21 - Dec 21 with 2301 views | Hastings_Hoops | Cook was on crutches leaving the stadium earlier. Didn’t look too happy at all. Could be a lengthy lay-off. Thankfully we have some players returning and Morrison’s emergence… not great by any stretch of the imagination, but could have been catastrophic a month ago!!! …does that leave us with three left footed CB’s + Dunne?

Soft tissue issue in the sole of his foot according to Marti. There is no way Cook is going down like he was shot in that location for a soft tissue injury in his feet. It looked like a tendon snap either hamstring or the career threatening achilles but hopefully its soft issue . You cannot possibly replace his leadership and experience but we do have cover back there at least . Best wishes to SC

Was Prestons goal totally against the morals of the game on 23:58 - Dec 21 with 2175 views | Rangersw12 | With the amount of play acting by players nowadays their striker was well within his rights to score He didn't know that Cook was genuinely injured and I would have been livid if it was the other way round and we stopped playing
