Who get the better of them and that’s a fact.

They attack a Swans fan.

So, does a football banning order mean they don’t have to watch Cardiff anymore??? What kind of punishment is that for gods sake?

Two tier sentencing imo , say something on the internet and you can get 2 to 5 years , seriously assault someone because they hold different opinions and you get no where near that and have it suspended

I don’t in any way condone the violence inflicted on this man BUT you’ve got to be looking for trouble if you celebrate a late (or any) goal whilst sat in the Cardiff end. And please don’t give me this ‘it was instinctive’ argument, rubbish. He could easily have sat on his hands. I’d say there was a modicum of purposeful provocation on his part. The reaction of course was disproportionate.

As a swans fan for 60 years, and my best mate of 40 years another mate of 50 years being both Cardiff fans ........sometimes life leaves me struggling to find any human intelligence.

Really can’t argue with that. Not condoning it, but the same would have happened if one of their fans celebrated an injury time winner in the east stand.

They should still do time, but what a stupid thing to do from the Swans fan.

I seem to remember a ginger Bassey doing it a few years ago with a similar result.

It's rather foolish to go in the home end & even more so to celebrate when your team scores.

Plain daft. He could have just sat there with a little smile on his face.

Sad to see posters suggesting that violence was only to be expected in those circumstances. It looks like condoning this violence and blaming the victim.

Fan segregation was only brought in to reduce violence in the 1980s. Fans happily co existed in the same areas up to then. The dumbing down process has been going on for decades to such a level that cowardly attacks are seen as inevitable.

Condemning the violence - no
Blaming the victim - yes

Both sides are at fault here

There was violence from the 50’s onwards . Segregation has been in effect much longer than you think. You must be very young

Correct segregation for standing fans was introduced a lot earlier. In the FA Cup in 1968 Arsenal fans were housed under the double Decker
In 1971 on boxing day in good old league 3 Aston Villa fans were again in the double decker standing area. Over 24,000 in attendance that day with gates closed well before kick off .

You could buy stand tickets but those areas were not segregated as there was very little trouble from people who could afford to sit down.
I can remember sitting with Palace fans in the stands at Selhurst Park for the Fa Cup replay in 1980 discussing the game without any trouble .

The jack was stupid for 1, to go in the away end and 2. To actually jump and cheer our winner.

The kerdiff fans are equally to blame for the attack.

It’s pretty obvious isn’t it. He went in their end, with a Swans top under his jacket. You don’t do that if you’re genuinely trying to watch the game incognito.

If that happened in reverse most of us wouldn’t attack anyone but woukd be fuming. Plenty of our meatheads would have piled in.

I was at Selhurst Park that night as I lived in London in those days. Went behind the goal in the home end and got into conversation with two older Palace fans who shared their coffee laced with Pernod with me. I’ll always remember that game and that taste. Good people.

I was in the same stand as you that night, had no trouble inside, but had a running fight all the way back to the car.
