Obviously a different definition of 'transparency' to mine.

Commitment to Regulation 128.

WTF is that when it’s at home. Standard PR bollocks that says we’ve informed you, now we can get on with ignoring you.

Basically I think the EFL have mandated clubs have to have one of these statements/plans, as well as a supporter consultation committee (which Lee Hoos set up here so we have) and that it has to be democratically elected (which ours wasn't).

Well I didn't vote for it. I thought we were an anarcho syndicalist commune.

A document that tells me Loftus Road and blue and white hoops are heritage assets, is a tick box load of ol' bollix, magic'd up by business school devotees seeking relevance!!

I ran it through an AI tool and got this:

Queens Park Rangers Fan Engagement Plan 2024/25: FAQs

1. What is the main goal of Queens Park Rangers' (QPR) Fan Engagement Plan?
QPR's Fan Engagement Plan aims to cultivate a strong sense of community and belonging among supporters. The club believes in open communication, transparency, and collaboration to ensure fans feel valued, heard, and involved in the club's journey.

2. How does QPR plan to engage with supporters?
QPR will engage with fans through diverse channels, including:

Supporter Advisory Board: This board, previously known as the Supporters Consultation Committee, will meet regularly with senior club representatives to provide input on long-term decisions and strategies.
Fans' Forums: At least one forum will be held per season, allowing a diverse group of supporters to engage with club staff and directors on various topics.
Working Group Meetings: Focused meetings with specific supporter groups will address particular areas of interest or concern.
Virtual Fan Engagement Events: These events will allow fans, including those overseas, to participate in discussions and activities.
Junior Hoops Events: Dedicated events throughout the year will cater specifically to younger supporters.
3. How does the Supporter Advisory Board work?
The Supporter Advisory Board serves as the primary mechanism for formal consultation between the club and its fans. Representatives share their perspectives on issues affecting the fanbase and provide input on club strategy and future fan engagement plans.

The board aims to meet twice or more per season, with additional meetings as needed. Meeting notes are shared with the group and posted on the club's official communication channels.

4. What are some topics the Supporter Advisory Board will address?
The board's discussions cover a wide range of topics, including:

Fan engagement activities
Matchday experience (both home and away)
Stadium facilities
Club communication
The club's traditions and heritage
5. How does QPR ensure transparency and accountability in fan engagement?
QPR commits to providing regular updates to supporters regarding its fan engagement activities. Feedback mechanisms are in place, including Fans' Forums, formal meetings, a dedicated Supporter Relations email inbox, and a phone number.

The club will communicate any changes to the Fan Engagement Plan promptly, explaining the reasons behind them and how they align with the club's objectives.

6. What is QPR's commitment to protecting its heritage?
QPR recognizes the importance of its rich history and is committed to consulting with supporters on any proposed changes to heritage assets. These assets include:

The club's name
The club crest
The name of the stadium
The blue and white hoops
If any changes to these assets are considered, QPR will engage in structured dialogue with the Supporter Advisory Board and explore wider consultation as needed.

7. Does the Supporter Advisory Board support the new Fan Engagement Plan?
Yes, the Supporter Advisory Board fully supports the new Fan Engagement Plan and existing strategies. The board views it as a positive step forward in formalising meaningful engagement with the supporter base and ensuring fans are at the heart of decisions affecting QPR.

8. How can I get involved in QPR's Fan Engagement activities?
Supporters can get involved by reaching out to the club's Supporter Relations team via email at supporterservices@qpr.co.uk or by phone at 020 8750 2628. Feedback, suggestions, and ideas are always welcome.

And criticism:
While the document is comprehensive, a few additions could enhance its impact. For instance, including specific metrics or key performance indicators (KPIs) for measuring the success of fan engagement initiatives would add a layer of accountability and allow for more objective evaluation. Additionally, while the document mentions various communication channels, outlining a clear strategy for using these channels effectively and ensuring timely dissemination of information would strengthen the club's communication efforts.

I see that there is a meeting with the "Supporters Advisory Board" due in November.

I've not seen any member of that board request items for discussion from supporters, or a list of whom is on the board. Surely it would be reasonable to expect these to be asked/given. Not that I would have anything to contribute!

Haha, I put this notion to Hoos on a virtual Fan Forum and he dismissed it. Funny to see him having to put it in place now.

Interested to know what form these 'virtual fan engagement' things will look like and who will be involved because you'll recall at the recent forum Nourry said that while it was just him this time, there would be "further events later in the season where you'll get to talk to people on the football side".

This document also seems to very pointedly say the manager won't be appearing at the fans forums any more which is, again, for me, a mistake.

That's how I read it, too. Whether that was the intention or not, who's to say, but that's how it reads.

Did this appear yesterday and, if so, do we know why yesterday?

We’re all assuming Nourry is stopping Marti appearing but perhaps Marti himself has made that decision, I don’t know.

In some respect I could understand that. Essentially, you can easily end up talking yourself into a corner with the fans, reveal any rift between yourself and the players/development squad etc, reveal too much behind the scenes (aka the Haka and such like) which, in its various forms, played a part in undermining and bringing down at least three of the last four managers.

There’s also the buck stops here analogy, perhaps Nourry understands that and is prepared to take the flak and responsibility that comes with that, something Les never actually got to grips with.

Well it's really working Steve in that case, because the team's doing brilliantly and there's absolutely no rumour, counter rumour or speculation about anything going on behind the scenes now at all. So they've pulled an absolute blinder if you're right.

Perhaps, Steve. However, comments I have heard directly from people who have met Nourry would suggest such principled honour and professionalism is not his standard operating procedure. He is also far less qualified for DOF responsibilities than Ferdinand ever was. LF had done his badges, and worked within football for 25 years as a player and coach. I repeat, Nourry was a 26yr old recruitment consultant who worked on non-playing staff recruitment in football, and somehow having been asked to do a review of that side of QPR, turned it into a complete 360 review of everything and was then invited to be CEO (I suspect because Hoos wanted out and this was his ticket). Yes, he went to St Paul’s and Oxford so he must be academically smarter (far more so than Ferdinand) but there are thousands of well educated people about; it doesn’t make them qualified to have DOF responsibilities.

That aside this is just a box ticking exercise for the EFL. If this was a serious piece of comms with a genuine intent to engage the fans they’d communicate who is on the Supporters’ Advisory Board, how there were elected, how elections in future would work, and how fans can raised issues with them, etc, and not simply ask interested fans to contact the club. That is not the most transparent approach.

As ever look for what these verbose corporate documents don’t say, like that the Manager won’t be attending Fans Forums anymore.

Well absolutely, does feel they’re digging their own graves at the moment.

Ultimately, between them, they’ve made some stinker signings. In terms of running the show behind the scenes it does feel that at least everyone’s pulling in the same direction, not in a successful fashion, but one that at least isn’t split from the insides. That can easily change if we remain in the bottom three, but we do at least have a base that didn’t seem to be there under the previous DOF.

You would hope that they’ve learnt from this summers experience. Lightweights don’t work in this league, avoid lightweights. Not saying they will get it right but at least it is something that can be put right, unlike the previous splits behind the scenes that used to wreck any perceived progress.

I wish we didn’t have to keep saying this, but we have another transfer window in January to blow more dosh but do it better this time and maybe the foundations will be set for 25/26.

Clutching at straws I know, chances are it’ll all finally fall apart and we’ll take the drop we’ve luckily avoided for some time now.

Conversely, i think you may be right rather than me.

As you and Terry mentioned, it’s bizarre and somewhat revealing that there’s no mention of who these people are on the supporters board.

I’m trying to believe in Nourry and Marti, I really am, but they do make it difficult.

The only solution here is for the club to have new owners.

And you just know, being QPR, we'll get the best ones possible.

I read it like that too at first but I don't know enough about the subject. If the EFL are asking clubs to do this presumably it's for questions to be asked about the management of the club not the team. If that is the intention, I imagine the EFL wouldn't be too happy if we said that our plan was to have a meet and greet with the manager once a season, that's not going to get the water pressure sorted.

I also don't think it excludes the manager attending, it just commits the decision makers at club level to attend.

Like I said, I don't know. I've been reading a lot on here about nourry and it has me worried.
