Man Utd and Man City 'schedule meetings' in bid to sign Swansea City teen talent 11:34 - Oct 6 with 1885 viewstheloneranger

"Manchester United and Manchester City are reportedly in a tug-of-war for Swansea City's young talents Harlan Perry and Brogan Popham. Both clubs have scheduled meetings with the teenagers' representatives, indicating their interest in the duo."

"Perry, a 16-year-old central midfielder and Wales U17 international, is unable to sign professional terms until his 17th birthday in November. Meanwhile, Welsh U18 central defender Popham has caught the attention of scouts, but he hasn't yet signed a professional contract with the Championship club."

A good start for both, but really is it a good idea ?

No, there'll be a development fee but probably not much, a few hundred thousand.

We got a lot more than that for Iwan Morgan in the same situation. You either agree a fee or it goes to tribunal, or they stay for the two years of their scholarship.

The club has done well to keep it's talented youngsters up to to now compared to the club down the road. Cullen Cooper Cabango have all been well treated and developed into first teamers. One level down they are struggling and been superceded by Parker and Govea.

The club must fight to keep these players. It is a jungle and the crop is being picked earlier and earlier by the big teams in rampant free market capitalism. Swansea ends up not only losing these players but paying their own money to develop these clubs own youngsters. Guehi Gallagher and Rushworth.

The club will end up with only ordinary championship 6/10 battlers. I do not want to focus on Cullen who I hope at 25 will turn into a late developer like Rangel and Routledge.

I’m assuming Jasper the club can place add ons into the agreement if they leave ?

Not sure about Iwan.

If the clubs agree on terms it's no different from any other transfer. Tribunals tend to involve a lot of future clauses as well, like we had to pay for Dan James.

We did very well from Iwan Morgan considering how long he was with us. Hopefully he goes on to bigger and better things so we profit even further (also would be handy for Wales). The rivalry is for the fans, professionals just get on with it.

I thought there was a photo or two of him and his team cheering the wins, and they say fans are fickle.
