Going down on 10:52 - Feb 26 by Andybrat | Beale and injuries, the injuries now being the biggest issue. You never have a fully fit squad but the 1st choice 11 would never have looked like yesterdays. Chris Martin ( he does win a lot of balls) wouldn’t be there if poor LD hadn’t been so ill. The players must see their mates struggling on the training pitch and in physio all the time. We are down to the bones with limited options, at least Richards and Amos were on the bench. As much as he is derided Balogan meant clean sheets. Dozzell is the biggest disappointment for me, obviously got a sweet left foot but seemingly scared to use it. Absolutely no replacement for Ilias, but left side of midfield what other options were there. Actually thought we were OK 1st half but conceding a goal 10 seconds from half time was the killer. Second time this year, thinking of Sheffield Red Stripe. We are where we are and GA is the best option, suspect the only one but somehow we need a fit squad. BTW if Balagon was fit Dickie would be dropped, Beale saw that and wonder if that has contributed to his confidence levels. |
We won't have any sort of chance unless GA can empty the treatment room and get them playing. I remain absolutely livid with Balogun and the silence that is coming out of the club about him. Four weeks ago he was "back on the grass" (not pot, on the training pitch) and no mention of him. Is a "broken heart" a valid injury? I recall NC saying that he saw a specialist around six weeks ago and gave him the all clear, so WHY is he not back? If he really had given up, we should have pinged him out the door in January to free up some funds for a third CB; if he is faking injury, then surely he is in breach and can fck right off. Roberts, too, was "touch and go" three weeks ago and yet - nowhere. Laird "tweaked a hammy" and that has turned into a 3-4 game absence. Shysters, the lot of 'em. The players available to us (aside from Timmy) are putting a shift in - they are not very good, they are utterly devoid of confidence, but at least they are gracing us with their presence. We knew at the start of this season that we needed to keep the first choice team fit to have half a chance; we haven't managed to do that and, surprise, surprise, this lot have been as rubbish as we expected them to be. So, if GA can get them buying in and get them back to where they (and we) need to be, we have half a chance. If they refuse to play or are genuinely injured, we are well and truly screwed.

Going down on 23:29 - Feb 25 by terryb | Today. Was the first half a little better than recently? I thought so, but I'm far from sure. The second half definitely wasn't! I might have seen a worse 45 minutes at a professional game than that, but I can't recall doing so! Both sides were awful, but Blackburn had already won the game. I like Kakay, but he is not a good enough to be our best (only) player, which he was. That is an indictment on the rest of them & not meant to be detrimental to Ossie. I assume that Gareth Ainsworth would have been guided by the DoF & the coaching staff as to his team selection & tactical shape today. Hopefully he has already realised (as we have) that Dickie & Dunne can't play together in a back four! IF we persist with this formation, one of them has to be left out. We wouldn't be worse playing Gubbins thare. Or Kakay. Or an under 18 defender come to that! Preferably a back three please. Another change desperately wanted is to stop playing the same bloody players! I don't care if Dixon-Bonner (insert the name of your choice) is shown to not be good enough, GIVE THEM A CHANCE! He can't be any worse & after spending the last 3/4 games on the bench, the least he deserves is to get on the pitch. Another 6 points would see us safe this season, but will we even get 1? Probably, but I can't envisage where we will get it. Not a good day to support Rangers! |

Apparently Balogun was up in the W12 club on Saturday answering questions on the mic. I'm glad I wasn't up there, because I'm inclined to let my mouth run away with me after a few

This was my fear with Balogun when we first signed him, that he was too injury prone. I was slated by some on social media (mainly QPR fans who also happen to like Rangers) and for a period he was looking like proving me wrong by playing regularly and well. But here we are with him appearing to just not be interested in getting back to fitness after his mate Beale left. Infuriating as he would make a big improvement to the defence if he did play like he did earlier in the season.

Think 46 might Ted. To not be enough one of those bottom 3 is going to have pick up 50% of the points they have now from 33/34 games in the remaining 12/13 games. Like us can you really see one of them winning 5 or alternatively NOT losing at least 50% of their remaining games? If you assume we are going to struggle to turn it round, being objective, you have to assume those 3 will as well.

It's been enough 7 times in the last 10 seasons Ted. The exceptions were Peterborough in 12/13 who were relegated with 54 points, Blackburn with 51 in 16/17 and Charlton with 48 in 19/20. I think 45 will just be enough although with Huddersfield you have to take into account the Warnock factor. Yes they got thumped by Burnley but like another manager of ours he'll have thought that a bonus game, a free hit. I think the last relegation place will depend a lot on if he can get them scrapping like he did Rotherham a few years ago. They have a pretty awful run of fixtures in April though: Middlesbrough H Watford A Blackburn H Swansea A Sunderland A Sheff Utd H Cardiff A [Post edited 27 Feb 2023 14:44]

Going down on 15:52 - Feb 26 by terryb | I'd take Mathew Rose in preference to any of our current defenders! I get it about his "injury" record, but he was a good defender, as witnessed on our return to this divion in 2004. |
Let's not go overboard, he played a nominal part in that promotion. If he were in the current squad he's have plenty of company in the treatment room.
