National League playoffs 13:08 - May 22 with 16571 viewsEllDale

They start this week.
Any one from Halifax, Chesterfield, Notts County, Grimsby, Solihull Moors and Wrexham will join Stockport in the EFL next season.
Out of convenience I would it prefer it to be Halifax but suspect that Wrexham are favourites.
But which of the above would suit Dale most?

It's difficult to look beyond Halifax, in terms of traditional rivalry, gate receipts and ease of travel away

I too suspect it'll be Wrexham

As they're my local team I'd love to see Wrexham but I suspect they'll fall short. Solihull and Notts are the form teams but I do think it would be great to have Halifax back in the league.

I'd like it to be Solihull, if only because they have never tasted league football before and they may not get another opportunity.

Of course, Wrexham or Halifax offer better pay days and of those two, I'd choose Halifax.

Halifax was always my favourite away day.

My first ever away game was the same game as that Jason Peake wonder goal.

That combined with double decker buses and the traditional mass piss on that large house's wall was all the fun a young fan could wish for

The crazy thing is that plenty of people of my generation still regard Halifax as a Football League club yet the plain fact is that out of the last 30 years they’ve spent five seasons in the EFL.

I think it’s been long enough of a grudge now and hope that Notts can do it. A club like that should be playing in the Football League.

Nah, ridiculous. Leave them to rot. Any of the others.

It was good to see York make it back to the National League. A ground I always loved going to.

Halifax will be who I'm hoping to go up.

Really don't want Wrexham to go up. I don't mind them having success but it'd feel a bit too easy if they went up this year.

Didn't really want Stockport to go up with this new owner piling the money in. Fans are obviously along for the ride again but they've had several years out of the league so I'm sure they're pretty happy in the moment. Really hope we batter them home and away next year, hope being the key word. Dread to think what they'll spend in the summer.

Halifax have to win 3 games to get back into the League......would really like them to do it.

There ground is now a tidy set up and you can get chips at half time.

They were poor. Best team won.

From what I can gather the majority of those fans were from Wrexham.
Shows what sort of support they could muster if they were doing well in L2.
Same could be said for Notts County and Chesterfield as well I suppose but not so much Halifax.
They’ve an impressive home record but struggle to get more than 2500 through the turnstiles on a regular basis. A lot of the floating fans in the area have gravitated back towards Huddersfield.
Lord knows how many would watch Dale in the Conference having said that.

Well they are a city now! I wonder if they will add it to their name….Wrexham city doesnt sound right. Looks like the queen took quite a shine to actual (and potential) league 2 places, Doncaster, Colchester and Wrexham.

New ground now, unfortunately.

When I was your age, I used to enjoy the odd game of tennis. Or was it golf?

I was going to head over to Halifax for that play-off game tonight but as far as I can see the cheapest adult ticket is £21 - and that's the standard price for every game, not just for play-off matches.

I suspect £21 to stand up to watch non-league football might have put some of those floating fans off, that's ridiculous.

Tangled up in blue.

It's certainly put me off as well.
They did have a scheme the other week where season ticket holders from other clubs could get in for £10 but that doesn't seem to apply this evening.
Perhaps it's a shared gate with it being a play-off match?
