Oxford Match Thread 16:48 - Aug 24 with 26233 views | PinnerPaul | Not confident about tonight, although difficult/impossible to be confident about any of the 5 outcomes until we see the teams. For what's its worth I've had a small bet on Oxford to win in 90' - 4/1 seems pretty decent value to me.

Really was a great atmosphere tonight
Oxford Match Thread on 22:48 - Aug 24 with 2408 views | CiderwithRsie | Much bigger result than the routine win it looks on paper. Key players rested, no-one crocked or sent off, win not in doubt from 16th minute, clean sheet. Momentum maintained, support really getting behind the team and believing. Youngsters given a go. Not many ways it could have gone better really. Warbs spoke of wanting teams to be scared of us; people are going to be looking at Rob Dickie and thinking "How the feck do we stop him?" They'll start making plans but it should leave spaces elsewhere
Oxford Match Thread on 22:50 - Aug 24 with 2384 views | Ned_Kennedys | Nice relaxed game tonight, we did ok but didn’t need to bring our A game as Oxford were pretty poor. Dickie an obvious MOTM, Dunne looks a very good signing and Archer made some good saves. Thomas did very well IMO: looked much better than Saturday playing across the front. Dozzell improved as game went on. Chair and Willock a class above their opponents. Thought Kelman was anonymous most of the game but he kept going and had a few decent efforts late on. Good to see the three young subs get some minutes. Good turnout from Oxford making a decent noise which was matched by us. A good night out overall: hope we get a home draw in the next round. I thought the complete opposite re Kelman. His running was fantastic and he got in behind a few times, as well as making good space for others. Looked hungry and was unlucky not to score. I'm optimistic he'll develop into a decent striker for this level.
Oxford Match Thread on 23:10 - Aug 24 with 2169 views | Logman | I think whoever plays up front for us in the lone no. 9 role is going to look anonymous because Warbs prefers us to play it through the 3 attacking midfielders and its quite rare that we drill it into the no. 9. Oxford Match Thread on 23:32 - Aug 24 with 2021 views | DWQPR | Just back and thoroughly enjoyed the game. Worth the £10 a a decent turn out around 8,000 i reckon. Played some very good first touch football throughout the match and even with second string players were a class apart from Oxford. Archer is hen called upon did his job, Kakay and Moses both solid and looking to get forward, Dunne and Dickie, well say no more, felt like a Rob Dickie testimonial at times! MacCallum, very impressive getting forward. Thomas and Dozzell both went looking for the ball and Thomas especially was really involved playing some lovely stuff. Chair and Willock. Say no more, prem class the pair of them. Kerman, needs to learn to make that run across the defender the way Austin does and then the goals will come. Alfa provided a nice cameo and sent in a couple of real decent crosses which on another day would have been converted. McKenna looks a very tidy player. All in all everyone looks comfortable on the ball, not scared to have opposition players in proximity and look to play a forward pass and all seem to have the ability to pass first time accurately. There seems to be some serious footballing education going on down at Harlington now and I really do like it.

Looked good and was always looking for Archer to give him the ball (even though he didn't). Really liked the look of Duke-McKenna when he came on.
Oxford Match Thread on 23:33 - Aug 24 with 2017 views | StevenageRanger | Thought he looked really calm and controlled (apart from his very first touch after he come on that was a stay pass) You will see him on the highlights as put in a nice ball. Looked really promising. I was disappointed with Kelman, didn’t seem to get into the game, don’t think it was all his fault though as up top own. To his credit he did keep going and had a shot at the end but done little else. I sat in a different seat tonight right next to dugouts. (Hard to see in the corner as dugout and Warbs in the way!!) but was nice to hear Mark praising the new lads when they done anything of note.

I was disappointed that Kelman didn't score too, I hoped he would. I like him though seems calm and clever, just lacking some skills. Chair on the other hand is mustard. Gravy. Whatever the term is... Really enjoyed it today, support was excellent!

I’m going to take “some” credit for that. The Warburton chant in the second half was me and my mate banging on the back of the wall in Pu for 10 mins straight. Slightly bruised hands now. Good performance. Great in the first half. Okay in the second. Obvs Chair and Willock (especially) were a cut above, as were Dickie and Dunne. Was not impressed with Dozzell and Thomas again, sadly. I don’t think they move it quickly enough. Duke-McKenna came on and was trying to move it quicker than them from the off. He looks impressive and very quick! Kelman was tidy but today was a great chance to score given how the game went, unsure if that was on his movement or his teammates passing; gut feeling is the former. Kakay looked good too. Think he’s improving, certainly on the ball, compared to 12 months ago. [Post edited 25 Aug 2021 8:40]

Yeah, they showed good character after last games poor showing. Confidence has a way of affecting your performance for a number of games and while neither were amazing, they were nowhere near as bad as that 30 mins against Barnsley, albeit against a far weaker opposition. Thought McCallum looked really good and Dunne too to highlight two players who I've not seen much of.
