Crewe Game.. on 18:18 - Dec 28 by TVOS1907 | Not strictly true. It depends on close contacts more than the whole class. It's too long-winded to go into here, but basically every child has to sit in the same place for every lesson (PE and some practical subjects excluded) and seating plans have to be stored centrally so that if a child does test positive, their close contacts in lessons can be identified quickly by the Head. We also have to take a 'bus register' every morning, so we know on which buses and whereabouts on those buses every child was sat on their way home the previous evening and on their way in that morning, thereby allowing close contacts to be identified again. As teachers in classrooms, we have to keep a safe distance from pupils at all times, but in reality, that isn't always practical, as already mentioned, given the size of rooms in old schools. If one of our pupils does test positive, we have a duty to report if we have been in close contact with them (i.e. less than 2 metres) and then might have to self-isolate as a result. Different schools will have their own protocols and 'rules', for want of a better word, but are all following the same DfE guidelines. [Post edited 28 Dec 2020 18:21]

Cheers TVOS, sounds like a procedural nightmare to me! On D Aliens point, I agree about this “woe is me” garbage peddled on the BBC particularly. Vox pops seem to be the new journalism sadly.

Crewe Game.. on 18:26 - Dec 28 by D_Alien | And it's in taking as calm and balanced a view as possible that we'll all get through this We all know we're in for a very tough couple of months, almost certainly tougher than we've experienced thus far. I'm not sure that the constant drip of "woe is me" we hear on the news is achieving anything except making people who're prone to it, feel worse than they already do As for the football, i'm really not bothered about the 'suspensions'. Judging by our home form, they might just be doing us a favour by not playing right now. How this impacts our ability to retain L1 status is anyone's guess, but it's likely that over the course of the next few weeks the amount of games not being played will affect most teams, and don't see why we should be unduly worried about the effects on Dale above and beyond anyone else |
It was always about that balanced approach and appreciating how difficult it is for almost everyone and, it’s repetitive I know, doing our best. Football is highlighted right now as a sector that’s being impacted, yet the rest of the society will have seen this in countless of places and it’s only that sport is higher profile. There’s definitely some positivity out there though with the vaccines and the knowledge of how things improved over the summer this year. It’s about being more Geoff Boycott in the approach rather that wafting around outside off stump like David Gower when our lives are inevitably impacted. Difficult, but achievable.

Absolutely, but like most of the genius ideas brought in by good old Boris they're massively contradictory, and in reality impossible to be "covid safe". Close places like Smithills Farm very much an outdoor facility but you're fine if you want a tattoo while someone's sat touching you for hours on end or your eye brows done if you're up for a bit of that, massively essential.

And if one pupil tests positive all their ‘bubble’ is told to isolate but not the teacher who has also spent a couple of hours in the same room.

Charlton and Doncaster away as our next 2 fixtures if no more postponements. Tough but hopefully a full squad to chose from We will probably be in the bottom 4 by the time we start with not much prospect of a lot from those 2 games, so psychologically we need to get back up and running as well as physically

Charlton away (12th) and Wigan at home (16th) are our next two scheduled fixtures. However, both us and Crewe are free a week on Saturday (9th), so I'm wondering if we'll be able to rearrange tonight's game for then.

Crewe Game.. on 11:45 - Dec 29 with 3087 views | DySporting | My school (a primary) so far (touch wood) has had no cases but the policy in mine is that if there is a positive case amongst the class or teacher then it's everyone out for 10 days from last contact. If a parent goes down then the child is out for 10 days. If one of our cover teachers (who have to take classes in visors) goes down then the whole school is out. Mind you we suspect that Covid came through the school in February - In February two children came back from China - ten days later their classes were decimated by a mystery virus, cough, temperature etc. 90% of both classes off plus another 40% of the school off. Public Health England informed at the time, and no interest. That is until earlier this month where someone put 2 and 2 together and got in contact asking adults to do t-cell tests at some point.

We’re guaranteed to be in the bottom 4 on Saturday afternoon regardless, sadly, as Wigan and Swindon play each other and one of them will overtake us.

Swindon v Wigan postponed due to a frozen pitch, but a point for Bristol Rovers will take them above us.

You're probably right, but the way we have been doing things seems to be replicated across quite a lot of schools, from anecdotal evidence.

Crewe Game.. on 17:35 - Jan 5 with 1700 views | OxDale | It's great this game might go ahead but. If we lose, we drop into the relegation zone of the ppg table as well as the official table come Saturday evening. Not a good place with the continuation of the season in the balance. We need a point as a minimum. Crewe are unbeaten in 5. I'd take the covers off again!!!

No but sunshine might, and players will get a good dose of vitamin D, all test negative (for covid, if you believe the test) and game on! No problem.

I guess the difference this time round - certainly at the moment - is that the PPG formula was agreed after something like 80% completion of the season We're currently at less than 50% completion, and doubt any promotion/relegation issues would be settled on that basis But your general point is a good one, in that every game we play could be the last of 2020/21 and falling through the trapdoor becomes an ever greater prospect as the number of games accumulates
