The New Inn on Ham Common...only open 12-7pm on Fridays and Saturdays.order and pay at one window, pick up at the next and sit out on the green in front of the pub. Draught london pride and Moretti. It was busy. It was glorious.

Ahh.. Ham common. Drank in The New Inn a few times. Went to school round the corner from there as well (as you know BlackCrowe). Got good memories from around that neck of the woods. Might have to pop down soon.

I drove past there yesterday and saw some folks buying ale, might have been you. Another selling ale in this fashion not too far away is the Sussex in Twickenham Green.
I've always been intrigued by the Ham Brewery Tap round the corner from the New Inn. Obviously there must have been a brewery there once, but no one seems to know anything about it.

Fck me. Mum and dad used to take small and I there for a Sunday carvery as a special treat when we were kids. Away to some dastardly QPR away game on the Saturday, mum fuming that this was no way to bring up a 10 year old, big row Saturday night, then lunch there with Paul and me kicking a football about on the common while they made peace with each other sitting out front.

Went back a year or so ago and it was ok but a bit generic and chain with the standard Wetherspoons style menu.

Why can’t it be 1994 again?

If you mean the New Inn, then it must be different place, still very old school pub with home made grub, don't go there often enough.

If you mean Ham Brewery tap, then clearly right - it's the only pub in the area i've never been in.

Last time I was in there, I met and had a good chat with Lawrence Dallagio about Rugby Union, which I know less than f**k all about.
Still, I like to think he took on board my opinions.

In the Ipswich area you can get watered at The Woolpack. This was the local of the cartoonist Giles & featured in many of his works. I think that you have to purchase a take out meal to get the beer though!

In south Bucks, the Plough at Hyde Heath (just outside Chesham & Amersham) has probably their record number of customers! The common is opposite the pub & provides the drinking area.

The duchess on the Goldhawk Rd are doing the same. Had a couple of pints of beavertown from there last week. It was pure bliss

For all my jaunts when a youngster, they’re parts of London which are a great big void on my geography map. To me, ham came with a slice of tomato between sliced white, never heard of the place until Rangers board posters started mentioning it. As for Richmond, it was on the front of a train that also stopped at the places we were going to.

We sometimes walked from our house in Roehampton through Richmond Park to Kingston,Ham Or Richmond.Shame we were too young to drink then though.
We were never indoors during the 6 weeks holidays. We had Wimbledon common and Richmond Park within a 10 minute walk.Or Barnes common was 20 mins away.
Happy days.

Love the woolpack. A pub that understands that plentiful gravy with your Sunday roast is a right not a privilege. Lovely memories of heading there after a sunny day at Christchurch Park and then heading onto the The Fat Cat on Valley Road

12-7pm? Thats like visiting times for the uncle you didnt trust.

That's the way I would like to go though.
London pride or Moretti. Gloriously busy and my ashes thrown in the pub carpark owned by Richmond Council.

So far in the local area, I've found the Duchess of Cambridge on Goldhawk Road doing takeaway, along with The Watermans Arms in Barnes, The Black Lion on the river in Hammersmith, and The Red Lion in Ealing, near Walpole Park.

The 2 pint bottles of Asahi in the Red Lion went down well, but the Watermans pipped it, because you're getting served actual pints in plastics and can sit out on the river.

Haha.. yeh. Even Richmond has social housing though. Great area to grow up to be fair. Although it's changed a lot in 20 years as most places have.

Lovely that part of Barnes almost like a seaside resort. I passed by there when I did the walk from home thing a few weeks ago. I don’t think the Waterman’s were serving then which is a shame as I could have done with a beer stop!

I remember sitting outside the Crown in Northolt looking onto the village green and church with my mates over the weekend back in the 60/70s happy days. I went back there when down for a game last season. Its become a Beefeater type pub with no atmosphere and populated by a bunch of yobs. Most disappointing, I wont bother again I will go to the Haven in Ealing a classy pub
