The New Inn on Ham Common...only open 12-7pm on Fridays and Saturdays.order and pay at one window, pick up at the next and sit out on the green in front of the pub. Draught london pride and Moretti. It was busy. It was glorious.

Might go to the New Inn tomorrow, taking an empty pint glass in my bag and pour the ale from their plastic receptacle into it.
I wonder if the toilets are open ? There is a public toilet on Teddington Lock but the lock is currently closed.
Next best thing would be to walk down to the river and find some copious bushes !

Thanks BC, think I'll try the Duchess in Goldhawk Rd. I used to go there when it was the Queen of England. In those days a lot f BBC people used to use the saloon as there was a rehearsal studio nearby. The public bar was shall we say, a bit rufty tufty.

In the Ipswich area you can get watered at The Woolpack. This was the local of the cartoonist Giles & featured in many of his works. I think that you have to purchase a take out meal to get the beer though!

In south Bucks, the Plough at Hyde Heath (just outside Chesham & Amersham) has probably their record number of customers! The common is opposite the pub & provides the drinking area.

Let me get this right, to enjoy a drink in London one needs two pots, one to imbibe the other to piss in.

Stop press. Just been told The White Swan in Twickenham just started doing take-outs. Surely one of the loveliest spots in these lands to sit outside with a takeout in good weather.

Stop press: just went past the Ham Brewery Tap round the corner from the New Inn mentioned in the OP amd it has a For Sale sign outside. If it closes that leaves just one of the four pubs in Ham left - the New Inn.

New Inn, Hand & Flower, Brewery Tap, and what's the other - Fox and Hounds - has that closed down?

Maybe it might lead to the return of the tankard?Everyone brings their own pint pot to the pub and takes it back home with them at the end of the session.
It would certainly be better than plastic glasses normally used around Shepherd’s Bush on matchdays.
The stewards might look at you strange on the turnstiles though.

Lovely pub that. I worked there for 6 months back when I was at Richmond College. Always people spilling out along the curb when the weather was nice.

The other was a Watney house that closed some years ago. Go past the Brewery Tap going towards the river and it was on the right. For a while it was a community centre but now empty. Almost opposite the wonderfully named deli, Hansel & Pretzel.
Might get a takeaway at the New Inn tomorrow.

Just been told that the Express Tavern Kew Bridge is back open for take outs. “Big Smoke, Harvey’s and others 2 pints for £5” or something like that. River walk on Sunday me thinks!

Ah yes i know the one. Went in there once when i first moved into the area, quite liked it.

if the weather allows, i'll be heading to the New Inn tomorrow around 5pm. And if doesn't then i'll try again on Saturdsay.

lovely picture of the milford arms there.
my sunday local for a good few years back in the mid to late 70's.
our home pitch across the road, sadly not used anymore for football.
used to get as many pints in that couple of hours dinner time when the lunch time hours were 12 to 2 pm....funny how in them days after the 10 minute drinking up time was always a good half hour more.

Just spent three hours outside a pub in Quincy,, the next community over from me. Has a big car Park as well which they plonked 50ish tables down in. Patio was well crowded, social distancing started at a couple of feet but’s down to about six inches now though tables were reasonably spaced. I rarely drink draft in the US, it’s generally poor, so stuck to bottles and Margaritas, all served in glass, good buzz going on, quite happy.
