My Scunthorpe supporting mate says he's awful. But in Keith we trust, let's see how he gets on.
Canavan on 22:33 - Feb 15 with 6934 views | borntogo | It's not puzzling. He's surely lined up to replace McNulty, who is just a shade more effective than Jack the Kitman would be a centre half.

He joins the other countless squad members who are being paid for doing very little. The sooner this season finishes and Hilly sorts out the dead wood the better. We seem to be signing players who specialise in either being constantly unfit/injured or those who have barely played a game since Lord Lucan was last sighted. I suppose Hilly had to do something though, the defending this seasons been laughable.

On paper, does not look a great signing, but the same can be said of some of those mentioned earlier in this and other threads ( O'Grady, etc) Let's see what happens and give him a chance, because as you say defence is an issue, especially set pieces We can always start slagging him off next month :-)

Maybe looking at bringing in a defensive coach could be a better option than keep replacing the players. Defenders taking a extra touch and being caught in possession instead of just doing the basics and clearing the danger would be a great place to start. [Post edited 16 Feb 2016 7:27]

Why is it a waste? We are nowhere near our quota and are unlikely to be with only 3 months left. Have you even seen him play? He obviously caught Hills eye in our promotion season. From Wiki. Canavan missed just one match in Scunthorpe's promotion winning season in 2013-14 and formed a defensive partnership with David Mirfin. [Post edited 16 Feb 2016 10:15]

Which five central defenders would you have signed ahead of him? Realistic targets please.

Is there anything about watching Dale you like? You must have been a right barrel of laughs when we were fighting re-election every season. I know you won't reply; you never do because you don't have any answers.

Canavan on 11:06 - Feb 16 with 6241 views | lurker | This lad scores a goal once every 10 games on average. May not be why Hill signed him, but to me this is a decent record for a defender (better than some of our forwards it could be argued) and is something that has been missing since Dawson left. Might have been a consideration along with his defensive abilities, as our current defenders rarely score and when they do it almost seems an accident. Concede one score one!!
