Well this should make for a fun afternoon on here...

CHRIS RAMSEY APPOINTED TECHNICAL DIRECTOR

Ramsey to head up new role within QPR Academy

CHRIS Ramsey has been appointed Technical Director at QPR.

Ramsey will be responsible for a variety of roles relating to coaching and player development.

The 53 year-old will oversee all aspects of coaching and coach education within the Academy, and be responsible for developing and implementing player development strategies.

He will also oversee the integration between the Academy, Development Squad and First Team, as well as focusing on the monitoring and reporting of players on loan to other clubs.

Ramsey will also develop and implement the scouting strategy to include the necessary processes and procedures to acquire players, and develop and implement club partnership programmes at both domestic and international level to facilitate greater market accessibility, exchange of best practice, and development / exit opportunities for players.

Director of Football, Les Ferdinand, explained why Ramsey — who was relinquished of his First Team duties in early November — is the ideal candidate for the role, commenting: “Whilst we were disappointed things didn’t work out with Chris at First Team level earlier in the season, we were determined to retain his services at QPR.

“As such, we actually put a clause in his contract which allowed us to retain Chris’s services in a player-development role should things not work out for him as Head Coach.

“Chris knows Academy football inside-out and having put the building blocks in place for a lot of the good restructuring work that’s been done here over the past 11 months, he can come in and make an instant impact in an environment he has helped build.”

It's like putting Jimmy Krankie in charge of MENSA.

How many 'dream managers' have a clause in their contract to retain their services if 'things don't work out'?

and he can call on the experience of Steve Gallen who knows the area, all those who are well disposed to the club.

Unless of course they were stupid enough to put SG on gardening leave after which he would be snapped up by a competitor club.

So the role that everyone said he was suited for and used it as a stick to beat him with whilst he was manager.

The man who was integral to the successful Spurs' academy is now in a similar role at QPR

Technical Director , HA HA HA HA HA

cant wait to see the Academy's teams Defence or Set pieces ,
maybe they could use the tactic of the 6ft 2 Striker throwing long balls into the box to the 5ft 4 midfielder

I await the normal backlash about how Harry Kane owes his career to Chris

And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles Brian Moore

In a nutshell what I was thinking reading through the thread.

If not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled. PG Wodehouse

Well it was rather farcical in the first place taking two people (Gallen, Ramsey) out of the academy jobs they were qualified for and successful in, handing them the first team and then sacking them altogether when they weren't good enough at that, so in that way it's good that it hasn't cost us Ramsey's services at youth level.

However, is the same thing going to happen with Gallen? Hope so, suspect not. Isn't this job what Perry Suckling should be doing? If so, is he on his way now? Isn't this job also a good part of what Les Ferdinand should be doing? If so, why the need?

I assume Les will be sorting the scouting setup for the first team whilst Ramsey will be doing the same but for the youth set up ?

First thing we need to do is get Steve Gallen back in a role though

I suspect this announcement will go down like a lead balloon and more fuel to some who are trying to make out that Les is a male version of Diane Abbott

now stop that, you.
no sensible challenging questions allowed here.
just remember we are working the fernandes way.
heads they win, tails we lose.
damned if we do; damned if we don't.
last ten minutes, the legs go and we concede an equaliser, then we go on to lose.

soon there will be rumours of the 75/76 team being signed up, as they are 'names' with experience.

It's not what you've got; it's where you stick it.

Good news for the club in the sense that a respected youth coach will take up a role he is well qualified for.

Strange move for Ramsey though. Presumably in his few weeks away his agent has floated his services around with no takers and he's decided it's best to take up a job with people he knows.
