Why the club couldn't have bitten the bullet and agreed to cover their costs if the pitch wasn't fit for play tomorrow, I don't know, because all the indications are that it will. Therefore, there'd have been no loss of income.
As it stands, having to re-schedule for a midweek evening will almost certainly result in a loss of income.

This boils down to the club being disorganised compared to the Stoke game. It's poor organisation and embarrassingly disorganised.

What I'm also amazed at, is the lack of pitch updates since the stoke game(unless I've missed them and in which case this sentance's irrelevant) given last weeks temperatures especially, if the covers weren't on it's an absolute joke for a 'professional' club, let's see if we get more than a generic response to this.
Vincenti struggling Bennett out Brandy not up to speed. Lack of cover at centre half.
Think that the covers were left off on purpose.

And O'Connell to return next week? Cant believe its off. Laughing stock and Id imagine we'll be the only game off as well. Just got in car and its saying 8 degrees and sunny.

This will not be an issue if there are numerous other postponements tomorrow.
Given the expense we have made with the pitch and covers, the days of being an isolated postponement should be a thing of the past. The only cover on the pitch last Saturday appeared to be snow.
I note Hornets have a friendly at home on Sunday. It goes without saying that should a league game be postponed, then a friendly should to.

For me it's a case of A, the club couldn't be arsed to get this game on. B, don't have the experience (groundstaff) to get the game on. C, didn't want this game on. I can't say other than last night when the covers were last on, but to inform of an inspection, then not to cover it is plain stupid. Of course we could all be being unfair and the pitch has fallen foul of mother nature? So it's going to be interesting seeing if clubs near to us are also frozen.
They didn't cover the pitch after the Stoke match and a garlick says the snow on that Thursday was a surprise - I didn't think it was but...can't change it now.
Well its not snowed since a week last weds/thurs and excuse me if I've missed it but theres been no appeal for help to shift it this time? A comment on facebook yesterday stated half the pitch had snow still on it.

that snow was forecast at least a couple of days prior

The Crawley game is used as an example in that video. Crawley is as much a hike as East London (if not further). Yet there was no such appeals for snow-shifting this time.
I think the bottom line is that the club have been caught out here and have called the inspection early to lessen the embarrassment and save themselves shelling out expenses on Orient's travel costs.
It will be interesting to see if any other local fixtures fall foul between now and tomorrow.

the fact is the Rochdale weather forecast was completley wrong and the club have to go off that when it comes to covering the pitch
how can they be blamed for that
Orient are struggling so why would we not want to play them tomorrow - we will get less money through the turnstiles for a mid-week game than on a Saturday and the last thing we want is a fixture pile-up
Just a thought re the explanation on the website - if a) you've bothered to pay for pitch covers and b) it's cold enough to snow (as it did last Thursday), why not just keep them on? Might as well insulate the pitch when it's zero degrees or close to.

They take some shifting those covers I imagine. When you see them rolled up on the side of the pitch theres an awful lot of weight there. Can only think they couldn't be arsed doing it - crazy no one saw the Weds/Thurs snow forecast as it was all over the news with talks of Thundersnow and Weatherbombs. Must have been busy counting the cash.
