The following players remain under contract for the 2014/15 season:

Jamie Allen, Joe Bunney, Callum Camps, Ashley Eastham, Ian Henderson, Scott Hogan, Oliver Lancashire, Joel Logan, Matty Lund, D’Arcy O’Connor, Michael Rose, Scott Tanser and Peter Vincenti.

Hill has entered into negotiations regarding new deals with the following players who are out of contract:

Matty Done and Josh Lillis.

Meanwhile, Hill intends to invoke the option on the contract of Rhys Bennett, Bastien Hery and Joe Rafferty. George Donnelly has an option on his contract, which is under consideration by both the club and the player.

Player/coaching staff members Brian Barry Murphy and Steve Collis, who are also out of contract, have been offered new deals.

Out of contract players Godwin Abadaki, Peter Cavanagh, Reece Gray, Craig Lynch, George Porter and Robbie Thomson will be leaving the club.

Loan players Graham Cummins, Jason Kennedy and Jack O’Connell have returned to their respective parent clubs following the expiration of their contracts.

So what's going on regarding George Donnelly?

Donnelly: Club and player considering? Interesting. No great loss if he goes and would want to retain all the others as a priority.

No real surprises in those released after we knew earlier about Cavanagh. The likes of Abadaki and Gray never progressed enough to impact the first team. Gray's injury obviously set him back, but he'd only shown the odd flash of potential before that, especially when compared with Allen who established himself very quickly after his debut.

Wonder if the offer to George is only 1 year?

No doubt there will be an increase (however slight) in wages for playing in L1, possibly invoked through a clause for those contracted.

My take on the Donnelly situation is the sticking point of wages we might be prepared to offer him, given he won't be a regular starter in L1. This could be his view and he might wish to take his chances elsewhere.

Poll: What are you planning to do v Newport

I might be wrong to but I've interpreted that as saying that Rhys Bennett, Joe Rafferty, Bastien Hery and George Donnelly all have options in their contract to stay. The club are happy to keep Bennett, Hery and Rafferty but don't particularly want to keep Donnelly and are in discussions to try and fix him with someone else.

Anyone else read it like that?

If I hadn't seen such riches, I could live with being poor

No surprises really, I would guess Donnelly is wanting more game time, sadly he wont get it here.

Will Lillis and done have had offers from elsewhere then?

Important we retain them both.

The arrival of a couple of strikers looks likely, especially if George does move on.

No mention of McGinty?

Gut feeling is that Hill is interested in keeping George but on a lesser deal than he's currently on. He can't guarantee him first team football and if he can get a better deal elsewhere, he'll be encouraged to do so, but an offer is on the table from the club should George be prepared to accept it.

That's an explanation that seems to fit the (few) known facts. I can imagine Donnelly's agent has already circulated various clubs with a video of George's goals. And there's no denying he scored some good ones (that at Newport was well taken) - there just weren't enough of them.

There'll be some manager who thinks he'd be able to coach him to score 15-20, not 5-10, goals a season, despite Hill and others having already tried to. Given that Terry Gornell and Ashley Grimes found clubs when they left Dale last summer, I'd expect Donnelly to get an offer he'll find worth taking.

Gornell is a far more talented footballer than George Donnelly.

True, but Georgie had a better attitude than Grimes/Gornell combined.

Give him 50 quid a week plus a Grand per goal he scores.

Accuracy may improve ?

Why did we play Lynch against Newport? Seems a bit of a strange one (it was not a dead game), surely Hilly had already made up his mind to let him go?

Also are we taking it for granted that Done will sign? Will Hill go back to Rose at left back with Done unhappy to be on the bench, could easily get regular football at lb at another league one team
