It'd be quick work if they could get the first phase ready for next season.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

Sadly i can't see this happening. Not even a partial increase in capacity.

We don't have the vision as a club and our working model is around risk management.

Not sure our board is convinced the project of upgrading is financially worth it.

Nitpicking, our capacity is no longer 20500.

I'm absolutely in favour of a carefully planned expansion and trust the Board to take all risk factors into account - there is sometimes nothing more dangerous than decision makers who have " a vision"

All design work and supporting travel plans for each phase of work are all done.

Loads of steel work to start things off, the rest is easy construction.

The first phase (ES), will be done easily in the close season.

I wonder how many walk up fans would love to go for most games but can't get tickets? We need to expand, no question about that

No contracts tendered.

No orders placed.

The project is far from being "easy construction" for instance the grass bank leading to the river will need to be completely re engineered.

Doable but only just in that time scale.

I also have it on good authority that the board are split about even going ahead with the project.

All dependant on our final position, once we know for sure, I believe there's no reason why it can't start the moment the season ends.

Probably getting the 8000 on the waiting list excited.....

Not my game so couldn't say how practical it is but 3 month turnaround on a 5000 seater expansion? Must admit that sounds ambitious for a company that can't get a working ticketing system in the 8 years we've been at the Lib.

Don't get the idea that we will only expend if we survive as what happens if we get relegated next season or the season after. There either is a demand for expansion or there isn't. Unfortunately the market research done by the club has been so poor are they any clearer about potential support?

Surely going from 22,000 to 33,000 is a 50% increase.

As a side note; if the capacity is going to be one and a half times why it is now does that mean, when full, we'll be able to hear one and a half pins drop?

Doom boys get our way? F%*k me mun, no one wants us relegated. We're moaning because it's a possibility!!
And talking of doom, who's saying the board don't want it or it won't happen?
If thats the case why waste considerable amounts of time and money on it?
There's been loads on here about the waiting list. We had been told there wasn't one but now they say it's 8000 strong? Just what is the truth? I hope there are thousands waiting and I hope next season we are fitting an extra 4000 in for the first game of a new premier league season!!

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

Think we all want it to happen... will we need a 33k capacity , probably not.

Our target capacity should be 24k - 27k max. This would give us scope to grow our fanbase on match days and maybe give away fans a larger allocation if needed.

A 50% increase on match day capacity is just plain daft. Maybe a 25% with an option to build again factored in.

If we have a waiting list of 8k and we go down then we'll be scratching around to fill what we already have.

If, IF we go down, what crowds we draw will depend on how we are doing and how much we charge.
To start with season ticket sales have already started, I don't know how they are going but I renewed mine the first week of sales, yes I did, just because I'm seriously worried about our position right now, it doesn't mean I'll stop going. I was there in 73, been going ever since, going down this season won't stop me!! And if all season tickets are sold will people who already paid stop going? Even if they did there are plenty who claim to be lifelong fans who complain about not getting tickets. They'd take up the slack. I'd predict crowds of 17/18000 the first season. After that who knows.
I do believe that relegation will see plans postponed at best. Where I do agree with others is expansion should have already started. We should have a 25000 ground by now. But what will be will be.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

Aren't the club into some never ending contract for the ticketing system.

I guess someone didn't notice the dead line for cancelling the contract

I would be surprised if all 8000 ppl on the waiting list actually coughed up and bought a season ticket when it comes to handing over the cash, probably more like half the 8000 and most of them are probably already in the usual 20000 attendance buying the available tickets in the JA scheme.

For me a 3000 seat expansion of the east would be ample and see if there is still demand for more seats over the next few years.

An extra 10000 seats would probably only bring in an extra £3,000,000 per season and how much would it cost to construct those 10000 seats?

The cash would be better spent on the squad Leon is 31, Rangel is 31 Williams is pushing 30 all these boys have been good servants but will need replacing in the next few years.

Couldn't agree more - 3000 would be fine for the first stage. I have a JA membership and have rarely had a problem getting tickets for home or away games. Your point about re-investing in the team is also good one and more important than people wanting to sit

I wonder if anyone could let me know if the planned expansion is for an "extension" on the current upper tier in terms of more rows at the same stand, or is it a completely new tier going on top of the existing upper tier thus creating an upper upper tier?
