If Colback still isn't fit it might be worth trying Paal beside Field, and Fox at LB. Ken has been hanging around in the middle at times, for tactical reasons obviously, and I thought he came to us with that versatility anyway - probably time to consider using it a bit more. And as has been said by others, until things change a lot Madsen and Anderson should be competing for ONE dreamy, free thinking, K Billy's Super Sounds of the 70s, Camberwell carrot attacking midfield slot. Not both on the pitch at once tripping their faces off. So if JCS and Colback are still out I'd got for: ------------------------Frey----------------------------- Saito---------Madsen/Dem---------Dembele/Madsen --------------Paal-----------Field------------- Fox----Dunne-----Cook-----Santos/Ashby -----------------------Nardi--------------- Chair to continue his recuperation second half [Post edited 3 Oct 13:50]

Two things I've been noticing lately: We seem too focused on what we're going to do once we get the ball back, how we're going to exploit the spaces that have now been created behind the opposition. I think that is partly dictating how and when players engage. e.g. for the third, Santos did actually track his man, and make a block, but when it ricocheted across the edge of the box Madsen still hadn't come over to help out. He looked from the replay to be waiting to counter attack. You have to get the ball back first. I think Marti has been able to get players in in positions he wanted, and is now possibly too focused on that side of things. What happened to that 6 seconds press stuff? It's there at times but not at others. I'm sure he'd have answers but it looks like that to my very amateur eyes. The other one is until recently we were lamenting not having a player who can collect it in the middle and turn with the ball. We don't need to worry about that now because we don't have JCS to play those balls through the middle, and there's nobody to collect it anyway. Hopefully getting Colback and JCS back can improve that but it needs to be addressed without relying on a couple of players being fit (and Colback has days when he can, and days when he can't anyway). |

A football strategist could answer it better, but basically I think if the shot isn't blocked then there's a higher than acceptable chance that our defenders aren't going to be in position to stop a shot on goal. The first was a great strike. I'm not that worried about that one tbh, other than not getting out to block it of course. That was more about how we'd respond. But the second one - once they get it past the initial challenges you've got Field moving late towards the ball, and Jimmy standing off it with his hand in the air otherwise doing nothing. The third I can't be arsed to think about, but it does all need looked at. [Post edited 1 Oct 21:47]

Cook trying to explain to the ref that the poor dear has got hit with nothing more than the ball... Head the ball, fall over, waste 4 mins, get a drop ball. Fcuk me straight. |

Controversial but I don't see Santos as the problem. He's given it away twice that I've seen, but tried to be positive and overlap. Hard player to outpace too which needs to be considered moving Jimmy over. It's down the middle that needs the most thought. Would have Madsen OR Anderson in the team at the minute, not both. Very glad to have got that soft pen. Will give these loons a bit of hope at halftime. 12 shots, 5 on target, lots of things to be fixed. [Post edited 1 Oct 20:42]

Was just starting to think Anderson was showing a couple of signs of getting back to form, and he does that. But the covering afterwards was horrific too. |

And his 'abuse reporting' seems to have spilled over onto my completely vanilla post. Utter carnage. |

I'm still a big fan of Rajput but yeah, I think they'll be starting to close or closed by the time you get over there. There's a nice Nepalese close to the junction with Bloemfontein that might be a bit later. If you can handle a pallete adjustment, one of the Turkish / Lebanese places might have better hours. Harana opposite SBG gets good reviews and is open late, or a couple of other options - Tasty at the top of LR is another. I also like Woody's but not everyone does, but that's close by. |

I feel massively media-manipulated, and very happy to be so considering today's news. |

I was quite happy when my internet died mid fans forum, but this is quite a clever chess move by Nourry I think. Takes the story off any deficiencies from that. |

But not fatally I'm sure we agree... Single car accident, bit of whiplash (he doesn't look round anyway), car's a right off. Put me down for that. |
